If you check out the AVS forum there are a lot of people who purchased a Lava sub and are very happy. It appears they are a good internet direct subwoofer, along with SVS, Emotiva, ED, and HSU to name a few.

I would recommend HK when they update their rcvr's to support HDMI 1.3a or better. If that is not a concern, HK's do sound very good! Sound quality is what they are known for.

I second anything Yamaha in your price range. I'm not a fan of Sony rcvrs, and would stay away. Never liked the audio quality, sorry.

I personally would not buy anything Sony for audio... Anything from Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon in your price range would be better sounding than a Sony RCVR.

Yamaha audio quality is very good. We are a dealer and use them as much as possible. Have used Onkyo products, but prefer the sound of the Yamaha's. Onkyo is still good though. I'm the same way with Sony audio products.... not a fan.

Wow, that's a lot. How many hrs/days did they say it would take them? I would think a day tops! Maybe 2nd for troubleshooting. Are they the only dealers around? I would call around for other quotes!
