Want to do DIY sub but have worries.

I know that this home theater forum but it since this sub is going to be used primarily for music, I'm not sure that ultra low bass should be the primary goal. Musicality will should be the primary concern. Many good home theater subs are great for shaking the house down but far from ideal for...

Learning about crossovers - where to begin?

The cookbook is fine for intermediate and advanced reading on the theory of speakers building. For a novice, I recommend Designing, Building, and Testing Your Own Speaker System by David B. Weems. This is a fine book for explaning driver selection, enclosure design and crossover design. Once you...

    Bose 901 Series 6 Speakers

I have a pair of Bose 901 series 3 speakers which I re-foamed in my living room setup. They are in-questionably one of the finer looking speakers availible. That is, if you like a more classic look. They are curious creatures, they are exquisitely sensitive to placement. If placed wrong you will...

Best deal for BIC DV-62CLRS ????

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I think it is a fine center channel speaker. One modification I made was to add more sound damping material inside the box. This is a good way to cut down on bass heaviness (booming due to resonance). This speaker takes about a week to break in, which...

    Genesis speakers ?

I posted in another area that I had Genesis 1's as my surrounds, I have the 1+'s (I didn't think to make the distinction), they are essentially larger versions of 1's. Tweeter and 8" mid-woofer. The V-6's are the same but with a 6.5" woofer and considerably smaller foot print. These are...

    Genesis speakers ?

I have the Genesis 2's, 1+ and V-6's in my surround. They are awe inspiring. They are little known but my oh my I love them. Like the admin said earlier these are Genesis Physics speakers not the way more expensive Genesis Technologies speakers which actually bought out the trademark when...

Opinions on Onkyo SR702 and Yamaha RXV1500

I have the Yamaha and it is an excellent performer both sonically and in versatility. I would rank it it as a "best bang for the buck" receiver. If you have significantly more money go for something else. Go to CNET for reviews.

    Floor standing speakers "Genesis

These are supported by Huw Powell at humanspeakers. Just do a search and you will find his site. These are fine speakers and if you don't mind an older style speaker they will out perform all but the most expensive speakers. Of course this is subjective but if you have them get 'em out, re-foam...

    Genesis speakers ?

Wayne, I agree, worth every penny. You simply couldn't touch these for $75.00. Try about $800.00 for a new set of contemporary speakers.

Anyone heard BIC America D26 bookshelves?

While I haven't heard one yet, I ordered the BIC 62CLR-S center channel speaker. They have some of the most glowing reviews I've ever seen on a speaker. Certainly looking forward to hearing them. Hopefully, they will be a good timbre match for my Genesis Physics surround system. I have a pair of...
