DVDplayer -- Hurry up and wait!

I have a JVC dvd player. It's the three disc changer they came out with a while back. I paid $200 for it, which lets you know it was a few years ago. Well anyway, it is not progressive scan, and I want to upgrade, but ... The technology is changing so rapidly. I could get a progressive scan...

    using car subs for home

An oposing view: For your first subwoofer build (if that's what it is), you may not want to invest a lot of money. Maybe you just want the experience of building a sub. So you could buy automotive speakers and mess around with them, then when you are ready to make a serious sub, and invest...

    Who uses dipole surrounds?

I used Cambridge Soundwords dipoles in my old Pro-Logic system, but bought direct radiating speakers when I upgraded to 5.1. My receiver is a 6.1 receiver, so I thought about using the direct radiating speakers as the rear channel (in series) and then using the dipoles as surrounds again. I...

I hear that!! Nice setup, Bill. The room looks pretty live -- with all the hard surfaces. Is echo a problem?? Looks good, nonetheless!

    Center channel speaker placement question

I thought about that, but then the center speaker would be very low, far below the screen. Also, the first row of seating would block the center channel for the second row. Here's my seating plan: Couch in first row. Love seat and recliner a few feet behind it, raised about 2 inches - just...

    Center channel speaker placement question

I have a rear projection crt tv. Right now, my center speaket is on top of the set, but I want to put the TV on a riser, maybe 18 inches higher. This would move the center speaker really high -- like over 6 ft high. So, do I keep it there and angle it down, or do I place it in front of the TV...

Can I buy subwoofer speakers at a retail store?

I bought a DVC 10" subwoofer from Parts Express a few years back. The first one arrived damaged -- looked like a fork lift mishap:frowning: . Anyways, they took it back, sent a new one, and covered all the shipping.;)

    My 6th speaker????

With double impedence, your current draw is halved, not doubled. So I'd heve to crank it up a bit, correct??

    My 6th speaker????

Doesn't that decrease sound output by 3 db? Would I just adjust the level at that point to get the right amount of sound? Should the amp(Yamaha) be able to handle that? Thanks!

    My 6th speaker????

Would there be an impedence issue???

    My 6th speaker????

I recently posted the details on my new system. I have a 6.1 receiver, but I bought speaskers for 5.1. So, I'll need to get my 6th speaker. Well, my surrounds are JBL E10's. I'd like another one for the rear center, but they are sold in pairs. For now, I'm watching ebay to see if anyone is...
