    The Dark Knight (2008)

The scene where Batman is throttling towards Joker on the street in the batpod. What was it that made Batman lose control of the batpod? It happened to fast and was so dark that I never got to see it. What caused Batman to flip off the batpod like that?

    The Dark Knight (2008)

Excellent photo example, Thomas. Note how they photoshopped out the heavy cheeklines she has? Obviously the photographer/retoucher of this photo felt they were distracting. So you've kinda made the point very well. Maggie isn't ugly, she just wasn't right for this particular role, imho.

    The Dark Knight (2008)

Sure, but thats not really what great casting is about. Why couldn't they cast a woman who is both breathtakingly beautiful and smart? There are many actresses out there who can pull this off. They clearly thought 'attractive' was important when they went with Holmes in B.B. - they likely...

    The Dark Knight (2008)

I thought the Hong Kong scene has multiple payoffs. True, it helped us buy into the cell phone sonar thing better (the closest part of the movie to age-old Batman/007 hi tech magic). To me though the biggest payoff was when Batman delivered Lau to the officials in Gotham. It truly showed how...

*** Official THE DARK KNIGHT Review Thread

Enjoyed the movie, but I do feel I made a mistake by seeing a midnight screening. Lately I haven't been a very happy camper when pushed into the late hours. I plan to see it again next week, probably in IMAX. One thing I am certain of - I don't like Gyllenhaal's character, or rather her...

    Pioneer 42" panel died today

Another dead panel tale of woe. Hoping someone can take an educated guess as to the problem with it based on what happened. I was watching TV for about 20 minutes, when a fairly loud BANG came from the panel. It turned off at that point. I immediately disconnected it from power and went...

*** Official SPEED RACER Discussion Thread

I could not disagree with this more. I was never a fan of Speed Racer. I must have seen 3 of them in my lifetime, and even then I am unsure if I ever saw one complete. This film was thoroughly entertaining, front to back. It had elements of sweetness (Speed and Trix meeting for the first...

*** Official IRON MAN Review Thread

I thought it was good, but surprisingly weak in some areas. Not weak enough for me to dislike the film. Perhaps I am the only one, but I found Bridges in his role to be very distracting for me. Seeing him bald and seeing how his character played out - I just didn't like that casting, and I...

Should WB and the BDA give HD DVD owners a "peace offering" to welcome them to Blu?

I like the idea a lot. I have a PS3 and am personally glad that Blu will move forward, and I do feel badly for those who have an investment in HD-DVD that they feel has been diminished. I don't however subscribe to the notion that Warner screwed anyone, and Warner is the bad guy in all of...

Blade Runner (Beware: SPOILERS!) About Deckard

This has been a really great thread. Enjoyed reading it, although its late and I'm bleary eyed. Don't know if others have covered these few points. The argument that its illogical for the police to use Deckard as a blade runner, knowing he is a replicant, is faulty. We have no idea if the...

*** Official THE SIMPSONS MOVIE Review Thread

Just came out of the theatre. Loved the movie - especially the first act, which I felt was the strongest. My only nit about the movie was the same nit I have with every Simpsons episode that contains this, is the Lisa subplot. I think the writers have no idea what to do with her and she...

    From Pixar in 2007: Ratatouille

Just saw Ratatouille tonight. Overall, very well done. Lots of fun! I thought the second act was a little on the weak side, but it picked up at the end. Lots of usual Pixar magic going on. The movie was preceded by a new Pixar short called "Lifted" that was hilarious!

    Terminator 4

I would like to see Arnold back in T4. But why would he need to come back in the movie as a machine? Maybe Skynet isn't all machines, as we were told in the previous stories. Perhaps there is a human involved. Perhaps even against his will. Maybe terminator machines were made in his...
