The cable that came with the blu-ray player is 1.4.

Did that and still no sound.

I have the OPPO 103 model blu-ray player connected to my Yamaha receiver via HDMI. DVD's play just fine but when i play a blu-ray disc i get no sound. The receiver supports all the HD audio formats so i have to think the settings are not right somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

I've narrowed down the home theater systems that i'm looking to buy. Of Onkyo or Yamaha which receiver speaker package home theater systems are the best? I will buy the blu-ray player separately.

I'm looking to replace my HTIB with something a little better. What would be a good receiver to start out with? I'm also getting a blu-ray player and will have a cable box and maybe even a old VCR to hook up to it.
