Maybe your buddy when he set up the receiver he could have turned the volume for each speaker all the way up. The factory settings are 0 and if he just turned them to +12 thinking it would make it louder now that -10 on the Master volume is more like +5 and there will be no headroom left.
Ryan, You must have seen them at Audio 5.1 they do look good. I did similar post and question some months back on these speakers. I have questions as well as I have not seen anything on them other than at 5.1. I considered them for a while but personally when I do upgrade my speakers I will...
Nick check out the Gramophone on 109 Street next to the old Garnuea Theater just after the High Level Bridge. I was in there a few weeks ago he carriers the smaller Axiom but he doesn't carry the floor standing speakers anymore. He did say he had the 22's and the 3's. I didn't even inquire about...
Thanks for your opions on the speakers. I have been getting listening to a few different speaker Acoustic Energy, Dalquist, Mirage and Klipsch. I am leaning towards the Paradigms as the retailer of choice is selling them. The B&Ws are still on my list and they are sold just down the road from...
I am currently shopping around for new fronts mains & and center. I have listened to a few but the C5s and the Monitor 7s are currently my top choices. My impression of the C5s were that they seemed to go a little bit lower than the Monitor 7s. The Monitor 7s did move me and I felt they had more...
I'm looking at the 7s or 9s and the CC370. I didn't even check out the 5's. The prices are for none shielded and any finish I do believe. Remember that most dealers discount from there mine is in the 15% range. The 7s are $899.00 The CC370 is $449.00 The 9s are $1099.00
Check out the Mirage FRx Speakers if your retailer carriers them. I was in my Local Dealer the other day and they are clearing the FRx stock out and have a limited supply as this line is discontinued. Mirage is making room for there new line of Omni Series Speakers. I could have got FRx 7 towers...
Jeremy posted a full endorsement for the Yamaha on your other thread. I will not give you my opinion on either the Kenwood or the Yamaha as I have not heard either one. There was another thread a couple weeks ago and it came down to the same 2 receivers someone had said the Kenwood was great for...
You will upgrade one day just how long from now is anybodies guess. I'm saying that most likely you are putting together a system I don't know what you have or what is your list of priorities. When I bought my receiver I know I'm going to have it a while so I looked and found something I will...
I picked on the Component video switching only. If component video switching is an item you will never use then it is a not factor. The fact that the receiver you buy now may be part of your system for a long time I would look at possible future upgrades.
Reid, The Yamaha, Denon and Marantz all provide about the same rated power output with the Kenwood being rated a little more. The Denon is the only receiver that does not offer preouts to add external an external power amp for the future. The Marantz is the only receiver you mentioned that...
Reid, Yes I do live in Edmonton. I really can't comment on the Kenwood receiver's as when I bought my receiver last year I looked at the one's that I mentioned also the Onkyo. I ended up buying a Denon 1802 and am very happy with that receiver. :D The Marantz was my second choice, but that's...
Reid, If you are looking at the Athena Speakers you are most likely shopping at Future Shop. So I would highly recommend looking at H/K's receivers the 125 or maybe the 225 you may do a good price if you do them all as a package. I agree with Jason saying take a look at the Denon, Yamaha and...
Jack I have heard the Monitor series driven with the Denon receiver it can do this with out much trouble. The Audio Shop that I deal with carries the full line of Paradigm Speakers from the Performance line up to the Studio Series. The last time I was in the shop they had the Monitor 11's...
