Matt, If you pick up a used 2 channel amp to drive your mains you will be OK. For about $200 you can find a good used 2 channel amp. I think this combination is the way to go. I use an external amp to power my front 3 speakers.

David, What exactly do you mean by bi-amp mode? DO you mean that you want to bi-amp your rear speakers? If so are you doing this with an external amp? You need to give us more detail.
Guy, The volume of the 45tx is adjustable in 1db increments. That is pretty standard for receviers. Most people can not tell 1db increments from each other.
