I prefer the "auto body" way. To me, you get a deeper look to your project. It also makes for easier touchups since the clear cloat is its own layer rather than being mixed in with a color. If you scratch it you can just spray another coat on and sand it smooth with some 2000 grit sandpaper...
I'll be honest, I don't know. I've never been a fan of the "Home Theater In A Box". That's not to say they are any good, but i've helped some friends put theirs together. I will say they are good for smaller spaces, but not much else. The truth is nobody can give you a better opinion than...
Corey, Your system seems to be on the right track. The subwoofer is will do fine assuming that your living room is small to medium sized ( >1500 cubic feet to 2500 cubic feet). The receiver seems to be a winner. Coupled with your speakers, I don't see too much of problem. I used a...
I'll second Keith's recommendation. I've got some leather sofas myself. However, if you still want a theatre seat, I found that Bestbuy carries Berklines at 999 per chair section. Basically, you build the row from the secitions you choose. I was just at BestBuy yesterday and had never seen them...
Parker, I don't know about Keith and Andy, but I still get that link problem on the forum. It says the URL isn't found. Hope this helps. By the way, Andy your theater looks great. Good luck on the finishing touches and please post pics of the finished product. Regards, Foster
My regards to you all for your input. It is really appreciated. Talked with Ascend Acoustics and the good news is if I don't like their product after 30 days I can send 'em back no questions asked. In addition, SVS (very helpful, and highly recommended) talked to me about my room and I've got...
Really that is just it. I want a good quality speaker that will be able to handle any and all material I throw at it and still be up for some more. The Rockets are a fine quality speaker. My God they are practically art. But, I'm not looking for a system of timbre matched speakers, but rather...
The room dimensions of the space are 9'x16'x23'(HxWxD). So really, my thinking is I need a big speaker with a lot of power to fill the space with sound. I'm relatively new at this whole thing. I've only been around this stuff for about three or four years so I'm really just beginning to scratch...
Arthur, Its not so much about quantity of volume, rather the quality of it. I don't want a speaker that plays load if it does a poor job. I'd rather it be accurate before it becomes earsplitting.
Okay, so in general, even though the numbers look good where it counts (to the ears) is where it lacks. Then how about something along the line of Ascend Acoustics CMT-340s all around? I still want the same speaker all around, and still have the SVS PB12-Ultra/2 taking care of the low end...
John, What, per se, makes Cerwin Vega under qualified for the amp (Outlaw 7100 or 200 Monoblock). Don't worry, I'm no big Cerwin Vega fan or anything, so your opinion is definitely welcome. I just want to know as much as I can about these things if I were to get them. Are they poor quality?
None taken. Its more of a quest for good, solid bass all the way around. I want something that plays deep, has high sensitivity, but doesn't break the bank. I want to have solid bass from all channels and augment that with a solid sub, (SVS PB12-Ultra/2).
Well then consider me warned :D But honestly, how much more output are we talking if I went from 100w to say 200w Outlaw Monoblocks? I guess my whole thing is when the movie starts getting good (i.e. more explosions, crashes, etc.) I want to have the satisfaction of knowing that when it comes...
