I've owned a 5200 and a 7300. If you can get your hands on an older Marantz for that amount of money ... take it. The older Marantz's are incredible for listening to music.
Was wondering about reflective surfaces. In my new Condo I believe the ceilings may be concrete with a layer of some spray finish over top. Not sure - but I can't drive a nail through it. How did concrete turn out as a reflective surface?
Cambridge is ultra high end and comes from the U.K. A little on the pricey side. Looks and sounds fantastic in the show room and is a multi-dimensional player like the top end Oppo. If you're interested check out the Cambridge Audio 4KUHD Universal Blu-Ray Player CXUHD. As an aside I was...
Just fired up the BDP- 93 for old times sake and shed a tear. Still works great, when I use it for SACD's and DVD Audio discs (the Yamaha BD-A 1060 I have produces a better picture). But when the 93 went I was going to upgrade to the top of the Oppo line for a 4K humdinger with all the...
I just moved into a condo so mounting in the ceiling was out of the question. As a result purchasing these new Elacs was the next best option - and what a result. When positioned right the soundstage seems to float
between myself and the front speakers. They have worked very well indeed in my...
Yeah I guess that question should have been posed a little better. I have had Pioneer and Marantz receivers before this. I guess I was wondering if all receivers have fans, (I'm obviously no techie) because this is the first one that has been audible at all. I was just wondering if it needed...
Another oddity. My Oppo 93 Blu-ray's sound gave out after installing a new HDMI cable recently (I know - weird). Contacted Oppo and they sent me a firmware fix. They didn't seem to think it was all that unusual. Long story short I have once again been able to enjoy my DVD Audio discs through...
I have noticed a slight noise from the back of my new Anthem 720. I am assuming this is fan noise? It doesn't hum all the time so I assume the fan only comes on when needed. It is not super noticeable until you are up close. I'm wondering if this is the norm?
Yeah nice. DVD A came out before HDMI cabling and you needed the analogs as toslink, etc. wouldn't do the trick. Maybe the format is growing so old that they thought it was not worth it to mention. I can't say that I was the first to discover this with this model of Yamaha - I read an old...
Yeah it's weird that Yamaha didn't mention it in their advertising of the player. They mention SACD playback and everything else but DVD A. I wonder if in order to include DVD A in your unit you must provide analog audio outs because that's the only way DVD A was originally played before HDMI?
My old Oppo 93 died so I bought a new Yamaha BD-A1060. The Yamaha does everything but DVD A's. I have quite a few from the old days. I looked online and someone said they do play DVD A's. Sure enough when I fired one up it played as a multi-PCM through my new Anthem. This is exactly what...
Picked this up when my Oppo's sound quit. Does everything but DVD-A (but it does DVD A with some tweaking with the PCM - weird, but that format is so old who knows what's going on. Can some blu-rays play DVD A's via PCM?) Seems HDMI cables have changed everything. Anyone had experience with...
Thanks for the info. Sounds like there is a Dolby Surround Upmixer at play that enhances the sound at all times - even when not solely Atmos material. Hadn't thought of hanging speakers from the ceiling. Let us know how it goes.
