Thanks ppltd... As soon as I read this there was confirmation on IGN as well :) It only affects games that are 720p (unfortunately most) - Blu Ray movies are not affected in anyway.

I have been personally told on numerous occasions and at numerous retailers that the discrepancy in store space and promotion for Blu Ray over HD-DVD (and Sony specifically) is because they are spending more money on marketing in-store. This is in line with the general sentiment of this thread...
