Finally received the CD in the mail via the slowest form of shipping known to man: USPS media mail (after a week of sitting in backorder status, too).
It makes me want to finally buy a blu-ray player and the disc of the movie.
The notes inside the case are a great history of the scoring...
Curse you like-minded movie score enthusiasts! You have forced me to spend more money!
(I just bought it for $20 shipped.)
Anyone want my old GNP CD? Out of print like new!
I bought this set after hemming and hawing about the price. Sometimes you just gotta spend it. :) My comments: I was very impressed by the work of Ken Thorne on the SII music. He was basically told to reuse all of JW's original material and rescore it with a small orchestra because of the...
I find that iTunes Radio streaming is a great way to find new music. You hear something you like and just look up to see the Artist and song name. You can pick the channel and general type of music you are interested in. I never thought that there were bands out there that made anything I...
Can we buy this set anywhere else? $120 plus $10 shipping is steep, especially when I already own S1 on double-CD. I'd love to get SII, and the others just to complete the collection.
I noticed that not a single person here has commented on the book, "The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films" by Doug Adams, mentioned in the annotated scores. Just as I think my collection is complete, I learn that it isn't. Not only is there more music to be heard, there is this book yet to...
My copy from Overstock.com should arrive today. It's good to hear that the set is getting a second pressing. Maybe it will spur demand for the other two sets.
Can anyone tell if the bitrate of the ROTK:CR iTunes tracks are 128kbps or 256kbps? If I didn't want the DVD-A disk plus the whole package to complete my collection, I'd jump on this in a second. Sometimes you just can't beat having actual media, regardless of the price.
Go to overstock.com and get it for $59 with shipping. You'll save $1 over Amazon's old price. Search around the net, and there is a 7% and 8% off coupon, too, but don't use paypal to pay (coupon won't work right).
