Thanks for the responses. I do have cable TV and my TV and cable jack are plugged in on the opposite side of the room from the receiver and other components. Sounds like I don't need to worry about the noise. Just for future reference, can anything be done to correct the problem (ground loop)?
I have a couple questions about some sounds I'm hearing through my stereo speakers. 1. When I press TV/Video to change my input from my TV to my receiver (to watch a DVD or tape), and before I select the receiver output (DVD or tape), there is a constant low bass sound coming from both of my...
When will the distortion return? After I keep on the TV for a certain amount of time? If the TV degausses every time I turn it on, how would know there was a problem if I hadn't noticed the interference the first time I turned on the TV (it's a small amount of interference)? If I don't see...
I have a JVC tube tv that was showing interference from my unshielded speakers when I placed them next to the set (corners of the tv were turning dark and had a slight hint of red and green). However, after i turned off my tv for the afternoon (leaving tv and speakers exactly where they were...
Due to my current home theater arrangement, I have set my speakers fairly close to my TV. I have B&W 603 s3 front speakers that are not magnetically shielded. At best, I can get the speakers far enough away to only cause a little bit of interference (the top corners turn green and red right...
Matt, what are angled connectors? I am also considering mounting my surrounds on the wall. Also, any suggestions for hiding speaker wire on the wall (can't place it in the wall)? Thanks!
Are gold plated plugs better than non gold plated plugs? Or are all banana plugs essentially the same (the "look" is different)? Do they affect the sound quality?
I was looking at banana plugs on Radio Shack's website and am unsure what kind I should buy. What is the difference between a $7.99 pair and a $2.49 pair? Does it matter? Are some plugs better than others? If I am buying a 5.1 system, will I need to buy 12 packs (4 plugs for each speaker - 2...
If I store VHS tapes next to my unshielded speakers, could this potentially damage the tapes (stored a few inches away in my entertainment center cabinet)?
I have a few questions about the tv interference... 1. Do the speakers have to be hooked up for them to cause a problem with the TV? I did set a single DM603 s3 next to my tv and didn't notice any problems (it wasn't hooked up). 2. Will the entire screen turn green? What exactly happens...
Is it normal for main front speakers to not be magnetically shielded? I am about to buy the B&W DM603 S3 speakers and I realized they are not shielded. In addition, I was told that B&W will NOT add shielding for an extra cost. This is a problem for me because we really don't have room to move...
I recently purchased a new system (listed below) and am now looking to buy speaker wire. When I was at the speaker dealer they suggested wire that cost around $300 for two pair of 8 foot cables. Are there cheaper options that would work well? How will this expensive wire compare to 10-16 gauge...
I recently demoed some B&W speakers and loved what I heard. I've also listened to Infinity, Paradigm, Definitive, Klipsh, and Kef speakers. I think I've made my decision on the B&W speakers (although I may give Paradigm another listen), and would like thoughts on my questions below. Here are...
