Thank you, I understand now!! Yes, I was thinking it was a volume control instead of a gain. I also was unaware my receiver was pushing any power to the sub from my preout. Thought those were unpowered. It makes sense now. I am headed home again shortly to make some more adjustments, and...
But that's my question Joe, why can't I have the sub at 40% with my receiver at 0? Why make the sub's volume control go to 10 if once you go past 4 it bottoms out?? Why make a 525 watt version if the 325 version will still bottom out? What am I not grasping here? Thanks Brian
Ok Tom, I set it to 20hz, and no ports plugged. The sub is in a corner close to the listening position. I have calibrated every speaker. I understand I won't get reference levels with 1 svs. Not too worried about that at all. What bothers me is, what is the use of a 525 watt amp, if the...
Correct Rob, I like my bass. My mains put out some pretty serious bass, so the svs really has to be turned up to match. I use Klipsch Quartet mains, the ones with a 12 inch passive radiator in the back, and a 10 in the front along with 2 horns. They can thump pretty well. The academy center is...
I know exactly what you mean, and yes once I set the sub volume I will adjust it on the receiver for certain movies. That said though, with the receiver boost on zero, shouldn't I be able to turn the svs up to say 75% power? Why can't it take even 1/2 of the power of the built in amp it came...
I am turning the volume knob on the sub. I left the receiver at 0 for the sub. The sub's volume knob is at 40% at the most. The room is 24x35 or so, I have a 11x15 area blocked off, but only with a thick velvet curtain. At 40% volume I have trouble understanding why the sub will bottom out...
Hello guys, I recently purchased a 20-39pc+ for my HT. I have it hooked up to a Harman Kardon avr55 which is 55watt per channel. It is in a fairly large area, which I have tried to close in as much as possible. My problem with it is the volume. If I turn the sub up past 40% volume, with...
Not at all Ramon, I will help where I can. Just FYI our space was 11 feet wide by 15 back to the door, and just under 7 feet tall. So a theater in a small room is very very possible. Thanks! Brian
Thanks Glenise, I love your theater. Plenty of seating! We plan on building our next house, and I want to make a dedicated room to my specs of course, so I love looking at the construction pictures. Thanks
Thanks all, The screen was made from blackout fabric from joanns fabric store. That seems to be the common material on these forums. I then used 1x2x8's for the frame. The screen is a white color, not sure shiny or anything. I was debating painting it, but it looks so darn good, and it's a...
Thanks guys, actually the mount was built by me using a small peice of mdf, and 4 of those little wooden legs I got from lowes for $1.25 each. Cost about 9 bucks including black paint. I came up with one thing that I thought was cool. All the velvet curtains had to be mounted, and with a...
Hello all, I finally got my home theater up and running. I would like to thank RON, as his was the first theater I saw on here, and inspired me. I had most the audio, 2 klipsch quartet mains and the Harman Kardon receiver. I upgraded to a klipsch academy center, and a 20-39pc+ svs...
Most dvd players still need to be hooked up with the analog to listen to music cd's FYI. On all the dvd players I have had, regular music cd's only play threw the analog outs. Anything digital will still play threw the digital outs, so there is no harm.
Interesting. I do not hear my rears much, never seems like much sound comes from them. Maybe it's just that they are like 8 year old small pioneer monopole rears. Size isnt a huge issue, most all surround speakers I have looked at are an OK size. I just can't mount quartets in the back or...
Hello, I am in the process of upgrading and the last peices are the rears. I want to stay with Klipsch as I have Quartets and an Academy up front. The choices for dipoles look like the rs3II, rs25, rs35, rs7, or the best buy models ss.5 ss1. I rears will be mounted on the sides about 3-4...
