Would you buy a new Onkyo 797 today?

I love mine- haven't noticed any clicking problems. Just wish I could figure out how to shut off the rear power outlets using the remote.

    Onkyo 797 rear power question

Phil: I have plugged the fan into both of the rear power outlets and neither one shuts off via the remote. I was hoping that there was some trick to it that wasn't obvious in the manual...any body know for sure how it is supposed to work?

    Onkyo 797 rear power question

The manual says that the rear power outlets on the Onkyo 797 are switched and can be controlled by the on/standby button on the remote. I can only get the two outlets to shut off if I manually push the power (on/off) button. Am I doing something wrong? I have the fan im my cabinet plugged...

+ or - comments on the Toshiba SD-K700?

I was looking at this unit at Costco yesterday. They sell it for $179, and the box says it is progressive scan with 3:2 pulldown. Pretty low price for those features. Is there a big negative I'm missing? I haven't seen this model discussed on this forum in the past. They also have the JVC...

should I get a progressive scan player at all?

Well hey, I was ready to shell out the $$ for a progresive DVD, but now I'm not sure again. My new Sony 40" Wega has a built in line doubler and 3:2 pulldown capability. Will there be a noticable difference between an interlaced and a progressiver DVD player when viewed on the Sony? I am so...

    Dig Camcrdr Purchs Help Needed

If you are going to get a new video camera, get a real digital in MiniDV format. You always live dangerously when only one company makes the format you buy (can you say "Beta" VCR?). Many companies make MiniDV cameras; the panasonics go on sale at Frys periodically for around $399. Much smaller...

    component inputs??

If you are going to upgrade to HDTV in the future and use the componant video inputs, you may want a slightly more expensive Yamaha, the 5490. Throughput on its componant video is 60mhz, as opposed to 30 Mhz bandwidth on the 5460. You definately won't notice the difference on standard TV, but...

Which DVD player for 40" Sony Wega?

After months of research and debate, I finally made the decision to go with the Sony 40XBR700 instead of a plasma or RPTV. It gets here in 4 weeks. Do I really need a progressive scan DVD, since the Wega has what appears to be a built in line doubler as well as 3:2 pulldown? Or would a...
