He partnered up with Columbo once. Wish he'd been a recurring character.

Theatrical HongKong remake of THE NEGOTIATOR, shall make u revisit the original that's forgotten 20yrs ago... to some.

Odd choice for a remake. I didn't think it was very well known.

    A few words about...™ - Fletch & Fletch Lives -- in Blu-ray

People are always slamming the sequel, but I think it is reasonably fun as well. Neither film really wows me, but they're a good time. I do love the soundtrack to Fletch - great synthesizer stuff from Harold Faltermeyer.

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I'm surprised that there would be enough physical media coming through a thrift store that there would be reason to go multiple times a week. Especially with everyone turning to streaming for the last decade. You must live in an ideal community where physical media fans with good taste are...

Official STAR WARS Saga Discussion Thread: Part 5

Thanks! I guess I forgot about the longer episodes. Or maybe didn't see them? I remember Grievous showing up, but don't remember him talking. I don't pay too much attention as to what Lucas or Disney think is or isn't canon, which seems arbitrary and motivated by the marketing strategy of the...

Official STAR WARS Saga Discussion Thread: Part 5

Your friend may have been talking about the original 2D animated Clone Wars series, which is quite brief and has no dialogue as I recall. It is also interesting but mostly just action set pieces.

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

Great choices! I have all of those except Munsters, which isn't really my thing. Also have Rockford Files and Miami Vice on blu-ray. Chips really is comfort TV to me. Easygoing but also plenty of action. And you get a pretty good tour of LA.

Official STAR WARS Saga Discussion Thread: Part 5

I'd love to see a TV series based on the freewheeling exploits of Luke, Han, Chewie and Leia in the Marvel comics between New Hope and Empire - roaming the universe and getting into trouble on all manner of strange planets, plus occasionally tangling with the Empire.

Official STAR WARS Saga Discussion Thread: Part 5

All of that discussion makes me look fondly back at A New Hope, when the Jedi were important but only one among multiple plot elements. Since the prequels they have become way too central to the storytelling for my liking. Which I guess is a big part of the reason I have enjoyed the...

    Fantastic Four

Heh, I love that "Four for four" tune. Very goofy but so catchy. As for Pryde of the X-Men, the animation is superb. I think Toei Animation was involved, the same studio that worked on GI Joe. Only this time they really pulled out all the stops. Apparently Marvel declined to produce the final...

    Fantastic Four

By your description, I believe you're thinking of the 2006 anime-style series Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes which aired on Cartoon Network. I never saw much of that. The 1994 series has more conventional FF character designs. I agree that WB's DC series were a clear cut above Marvel's...

    Comic Collecting

Right, trying to read digital comics on a phone is a real pain. But it's not bad if you have a large monitor. As you said, I think the comics collections Marvel released on disc in the 2000s were PDFs of scanned comics. I never got around to buying them unfortunately (hello eBay), but I...

    Comic Collecting

I never bought any comics at Barnes & Noble, but definitely took advantage of their considerable trade selection to browse through a lot of titles I never would have seen otherwise. Hope their one remaining store in this area keeps the lights on. Back to the main issue, I guess my thinking is...

    Comic Collecting

I spend too much on DVDs/Blu rays these days to spend much on comics. So I don't really collect full series. My comic purchases are mostly limited to haphazardly picking up back issues at conventions/stores that look interesting and are, to be honest, cheap. I'm not too picky about the condition...

    Comic Collecting

I don't buy many comics in general these days, and when I do it's usually pre-1990 titles I buy to read, not as an investment. But I also buy them for nostalgia, so prefer them in their original non-rigid format complete with ads and all.

    Comic Collecting

I don't know what the overall trend is either, but I have to think that making the collections readily available in book stores really boosted their share of the pie (although those bookstores are gradually disappearing now). I recall staying at a friend's house some years back and being...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Thanks for the insights! My uncle has a place in upstate New York so that would be interesting to see. I got the Decoy set recently but haven't gotten into it yet. I was sold by a couple episodes watched on Prime - at one point our hero walks around the then relatively new UN building, and I...

    What annoys you?

Many parking spaces are so tight that even with compact cars there is barely enough space between to open the door and slither out. Almost like the architect had never driven a car before.

    Comic Collecting

That is surprising and (from a seller's standpoint) a little concerning to hear. I understand all the convenience factors you raised, but... don't collectors usually seek originals over reprints? Is that not the case anymore for many? I agree that trade paperbacks are a good way to get access...

    RIP Roger Corman

My aunt got started in the movie business working on Corman productions, and soon decided making movies was not for her, although I don't know if that had anything to do with them being Corman productions or just the general craziness of the movie business. She worked in some kind of production...

Surprising to hear that. I think ROTS is great, about on par with ROTJ (it doesn't have any of the classic human characters, but it also doesn't have any Ewoks). The one thing that really bugs me is the way Anakin suddenly out of the blue kills Padme like a petulant 13 year old. The...
