I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone! |

Screw everything about Paramount trying to charge $48 for these new Star Trek re-releases. Completely scummy. It's down to $43 on Amazon btw mike. Still, should be $19.99 each. I plead with my fellow 4K supporters not to pay these criminal prices.
Also Lionsgate has been pretty good about supporting 4K, why aren't;t these knuckleheads releasing London Has Fallen day and date?DUMB.
Awesome week for me. I'll be picking up Jaws 2, Jaws 3, Jaws: The Revenge, 10 Cloverfield Lane and The X-Files: Season Ten.Nice to them all relatively reasonably priced too. Thanks for the prices, Mike! 🙂
Best Buy will have both Star Trek 4Ks for $29.99 each.
Thanks, Mike. I may pick up Jaws 2 once the price drops to $10 or less, but nothing else interests me this week.
It is with an absurd amount of enthusiasm that I'm looking forward to Jaws 2, 3 and 4. I'm getting the bunch for about $25. This is going to be a great way to start the summer. And remind myself to stay out of the water…
The only way I'll spring for the Star Trek UHDs are at BB for $29.99. As much as I love those films, I'm not paying $47.99 for them (or any other, short of a 4K release of the OOT, are you listening Lucasfilm? 😉 )
On the other hand, if people don't buy Star Trek at whatever price they're offered at, Paramount will just do what they've done in the past with other Star Trek products and not release anymore in that format. This is what they did with releasing the rest of the different Star Trek TV series when it came to blu-ray.Find a good price if you can but holding out isn't going to help when it come to Paramount.
I notice Best Buy lowered its price on Hail Caesar! by $7 since last week. Tried to get Amazon to price match it but didn't get anywhere – so it looks like I'm returning my Amazon order when it arrives and buying from Best Buy.
In anticipation of Father's Day on June 19th, we see the usual mix of sales on catalog action films and some nice price drops on recent releases for dad: Deadpool and The Revenant, anyone?!?
Happy shopping!
And thanks in advance for the likes to this week's OP…and for all the likes of RoundUps past!
Thanks for the prices, Mike.
I did put up the review for The League: The Final Fantasy last night. It's here. I'll have the review for Here Comes Mr. Jordan up as soon as I get the disc in the player and watch it. I'm also waiting on Eddie the Eagle and The X-Files. (And the Twilight Time releases, of course).
DUMB.
The home video distribution is with Universal which hasn't released a 4k title yet.
I've got a bunch of lions gate UHDs already, so not sure what you mean…. Expendables, Enders etc….
http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/lionsgate-joins-4k-ultra-hd-movement-with-expendables-3-enders-game-more-1201678048/
Oh yeah, here comes da Jaws! Dun-da-dun-da-dun-da. . . .
Also – vaguely tempted by the Conan 2 pack, although I already have Destroyer. Still need the first one tho.
http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/lionsgate-joins-4k-ultra-hd-movement-with-expendables-3-enders-game-more-1201678048/Not to speak for Scott but he's saying that Universal has the home video distribution rights (and Lion's Gate only had the theatrical distribution rights).
I should be more embarrassed to say that, despite it being awful, I've become a fan of Jaws 3.
It's goofy fun and lets me relive some great memories from a long time ago.
I have the two disc complete score playing right now…
I have the two disc complete score playing right now…Yeah, nostalgia plays a big part for me but setting aside what doesn't work with the movie, there are some effective parts (Overman locking the gate underwater, the two guys poaching, FitzRoyce getting eaten, sexy Lea Thompson, Louis Gossett saying "You're talking about some damn shark's mother?!") which is more than I can say for Jaws: The Revenge.
I got the Jaws 3 two-disc soundtrack too. The recently released Jaws 2 soundtrack is fantastic.
As usual, thanks for your work, Mike. Nothing for me this week.
OK but why does Lionsgate retain the home rights on LHF but not their other titles? Please, if you guys know WTF is going on here explain the whole thing instead of expecting us to fill in the blanks.
Mike, if you take your picture taking device to Target – be sure to have plenty of memory! There are white sales tags posted all over the media area. I picked-up the Target exclusive version of "The Big Short' for $10.00. (& "Bridge of Spies" for $17.99)
I don't know how I missed it, Matt. There is now a link to your review in the article.
I see Kevin has also just posted his review of the Blu of London Has Fallen. A link is in the article.
London Has Fallen is on it's way to me now as I LOVED Olympus Has Fallen and missed the sequel in the theater. Can't wait. I need to run off and see what Kevin says about it!
He's not very complimentary, but I enjoyed it in the theater. :razz:opcorn:
I realize it was listed in last week's post, but Victor Victoria was moved to this week.
Has anyone gotten a ship notice from Amazon?
Or is this another She Wore A Yellow Ribbon situation?
Find a good price if you can but holding out isn't going to help when it come to Paramount.
Easy enough to avoid the price — don't buy at Amazon though with BBy already listed price it';s incredibly unlikely Amazon won't be $30 by tomorrow.
Another possible long shot that might be worth looking into though still some missing information — with B&N 40% off sale presumably starting tomorrow there is still some confusion over whether the 4K discs will be discounted or not. If 4K are eligible then they might be $25 or less with the extra 15/ 20% off codes that will be active either online or in-store by the end of the week. Downsides — a lot of new release items aren't discounted for direct online orders and most B&M stores don't have in stock though. The workaround IF they are part of the sale is to do an instore generated ship to home order which allows the instore price and the 10% BN member discount if applicable (plus extra discount coupons if you have them). It's not inconceivable that they could be as low as $20-21
Thank you, Mike! Most grateful! The X Files arrived this afternoon, so I've started work on it.
Mike – was this a typo?
Mike, I'm supposed to get all three 4k's that street this week for review, but they have yet to arrive.
When you get a chance, can you tell me if the second and sixth episodes still have their 'Previously On The X-Files' segments at the beginning of the episodes? I've got some other discs that I want to get through before watching The X-Files but my nerd OCD doesn't want to wait to find out. 🙂
The second one does. I got through the first four tonight and all of the bonus features. I'll finish the other two tomorrow, and have the review up in the late afternoon.
^ Thanks for checking and I look forward to the review!
Um…yup!
A little cut & paste mistake. Good eyes, Todd!
Well…BB now has both Star Trek 4Ks on 3-4 week backorder and no store pickup. And Amazon has not bent on the $48 price. I guess I can save that $100 for now…
Star Trek UHD and Star Trek In Darkness UHD are available for $46+ tax shipped for both from BN.com with code BNJUNE16 — "20% off $50 or more" code expires 6/17 3am ET
These may also have $8 Movie Cash each for ST Beyond

David – thank you for that! Paid for expedited shipping so hopefully their online availability matches their actual inventory.
It sucks to wait on those Star Trek discs but if they're backordered, they're selling better than BB expected so that's a plus for the format.
Or they ordered a very small batch. Both have happened in the past so it's not safe to assume one over the other.
I'm sure they didn't order many but they still ordered what they thought they could sell and that the sales are exceeding their expectations is a good thing.
I only said that because I know someone who works for their corporate office who says "our buyers are morons." Lol.
Most Best Buy's have the Star Trek 4k's in stock, but they are not on the floor yet (they will be on Sunday). Ask someone to check the warehouse to see if they have any, and then ask them to price match BestBuy.com, as they will ring up on the register at $31.99.
