The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Hey RoundUppers!

I've pre-ordered Won't You Be My Neighbor this week. Fred Rogers was an important influence in my childhood. And the documentary is absolutely outstanding. Highly recommended by me (and a whole bunch of other HTF members).

The usual September crunch of new TV season sets is now getting underway.

Safe shopping!

And I've already reviewed one of those TV season box sets: Bull: Season Two. It can be found here.

It's a quiet week for me which is good since I've bought heavily from the Twilight Time and Warner Archive sales this week.

It does appear at least Target and Best Buy have Hocus Pocus and Nightmare before Christmas listed as Sunday 9/2 release date.

BBY Exclusive Steelbooks are both 12.99 assuming the website doesn't change once they go live sometime after 1am ET
regular releases are $9.99 ea

Quick note: The blu-ray of Led Zeppelin’s Song Remains the Same is NOT the concert film, but a blu-ray audio disc of the soundtrack album. The Amazon page on it doesn’t make that clear.

Thank you, Mike!

I agree that Won't You Be My Neighbor? is terrific, but I don't think I would rewatch it often enough to justify a purchase. It's definitely worth at the very least a rental, though, for anyone who hasn't seen it already.

No new release discs for me this week, but I have a new book coming from Amazon: And the Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness, whose name might be known around here for writing the film A Monster Calls and it source novel.

I desperately wanted to see this when it was playing at the Spectrum, but I just wasn't able to fit it into my schedule.

"Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" was my very favorite television program as a very young child (along with, dating myself very specifically, "Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show" from Canada) because Mr. Rogers's routine was repetitive and therefore comforting, and because he would have segments going out into the real work, capturing how things were made in factories, and how artisans would execute their crafts. Mr. Rogers helped make me curious about the world around me, and that was a lifelong gift.

Since I missed it in theaters, picking up the Blu-Ray of this documentary is a no-brainer.

I agree with Mike that it is a great documentary, but I cancelled my pre-order of Won't You Be My Neighbor and will pick it up at a later date. I blew my budget out recently over Twilight Time's sale, Kino's sale and WB's 4 for 44 sale.

Adam: You are in for a BIG treat.

==============

...which gives me the opportunity to tell a brief story of when I saw Won't You Be My Neighbor in the theater.

After enjoying it so much...as did clearly the rest of the audience (my conclusion based on the group applause at the end along with the appropriately placed "awwws" and laughter by everyone in the room)...some klutz who had been sitting alone near Peg and I had to go off after the lights went up. He had been audibly making noises of exasperation at various times during the doc,,,and then when the film was over he stood up ranting political statements (few of which made any sense). Honestly, there was more than a bit of a sense of unease: loner in a movie theater who seems agitated and stands up at the end and starts yelling political things?!? Yikes.

I picked up Hocus Pocus and Nightmare Before Christmas Steelbooks today from Best Buy. Hocus Pocus was not available for pickup, it was in-store only.
