The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

  1. Hello RoundUppers!

Things are starting to pick up as we head into summer. More new releases, more prices, more fun!

I had a 4k UHD release of Leon the Professional show up on some of my "new release" lists for this week…but couldn't find it on sale anywhere. So I don't know what's up with that.

And, no new releases for me this week. Safe shopping everyone…and thanks for all the "likes" in recent weeks for the RoundUp. I always see 'em and appreciate 'em.

    Happy 7-11! [IMG]

  2. Thanks as always, Mike! Strangely, this RoundUp appeared on my Facebook feed yesterday, but the associated forum thread didn't manifest itself until today.

Just "The Magicians" Season 2 on Blu-Ray for me. It'd probably be cheaper in a few months, but I like to do what I can to support TV on Blu-Ray. Unless the price drops further at one of the big box stores, I'll probably pick it up at Barnes & Noble and use a 20 percent off coupon.

I had a leeeeetle problem and pushed the wrong button yesterday (before I had complete information). I thought I had it pretty well "hidden."

Leon the Professional 4K/UHD Release is a Best Buy Exclusive. My copy has shipped to me.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/leon-th…oc=11&CampaignID=843123&SubscriberID=10860133

Many thanks, Robert! Weird that it didn't make their Sunday flyer. Another case of "let's pay for an EXCLUSIVE…but then keep it a secret", I guess. 🙄

  4. Peter Jackson’s excellent King Kong 4K disc for me. Second best Kong film ever made. Almost as good as the ’33 original.

Also Leon, Fifth Ekement and FF8 UHD’s.

    Big week.

  5. Sam Posten

Ordered Leon through that link thanks. True story: I bought the first The Professional disk (DVD?) and have never seen the Leon cut. Am excited!!

If you liked "The Professional", you'll love the "Leon" version. This is such a good film. Great performances from Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and a very young Natalie Portman.

I will eventually pick up the UHD versions of The Fifth Element and Leon, once they drop in price. I've owned enough versions of these (and currently own the latest BD version of each), so I can wait for a price drop.

  6. Usually Universal is very good with getting review materials out with time to spare but not with The Fate of the Furious. I believe the FedEx lady tried to deliver it on Friday morning, but I was at the supermarket and wasn't present to sign for it, so it won't arrive until Monday. I sometimes get two weeks advance time on Universal releases but not with this title.

    Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike.

  7. Nothing media wise for a few weeks, if I remember correctly. I’m spending enough money on a half business/half pleasure trip in Anaheim right now.

    Thanks Mike!

I have “Fate of the Furious” on preorder. I thought it was one of the best entries in the franchise. And it should provide demo-worthy audio and video.

THAT'S a good point, Joseph! I might head to Target and pick up F&F7 for $7.99 and TFotF for $19.99 and use my Target RedCard for a 5% discount. I don't think I need it in 4k.

    Robert Crawford

Amazon has dropped the pricing of The Fifth Element 4K/UHD release to $19.96!

Excellent news, Robert! Thanks! I'm changing the price in the grid…now!

Need it in 4K? Probably not. For $5 more you should want it in 4K. 😉

Thankfully I realized that I had already purchased F&F7 (thank you DVD Profiler!). I was thrown off until I realized it was alphabetically disconnected from the first six film (filed under F-U rather than F-A). And I got the first six films in one of the collection sets that seem to be issued every time a new film is released.

So now that I only need to pick up TFofF, I might actually pick up the 4k from Amazon…or wait for it to go on some kind of great sale.

  11. Do you guys keep all those films (Fast and Furious) lumped together in your collections–even thought they might not alphabetically line up correctly?

I have the same issue with the Die Hard movies. Everything was going along fine until they rebooted the franchise with Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard.

I keep my Bond movies all together, too, under B-O-N-D (and then chronologically). .

  12. In my collection, franchise sets/series go together, regardless of the actual titles.

Similar thing happened with Child's Play. First sequels were CP2, then CP3, then suddenly they started having The ______ of Chucky as titles.

Yes, I keep all of those Fast and Furious films together which saves time for me finding each title when I"m in the mood to watch one.

In general, I try to keep the franchises (eg the Stars …Wars and Trek) together and then typically the "classic" films by director or Star …. at one time my Robert Wise collection was um interrupted by all the Star Trek films as he directed the first movie … but all of the Trek stuff is separate now . I plan to get the blurays for George Lucas with THX1138 & American Graffiti then ALL of Star Wars (TM) then.

Fast & Furious & Bond James Bond I file sequential …I guess now by release date (the way "Hef" used to file all his films )

    Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike.

And a link to Matt's review of The Fate of the Furious has been added to the RoundUp grid.

  16. I'm not a F&F fan, but I try to keep my franchises together in sequential order (i.e., Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets goes after Sorcerer's Stone, even though Chamber alphabetize first), and since Fantastic Beasts is HP-adjacent, that film is next to Deathly Hallows Part 2, rather than off with the Fs. My Bonds are in sequence under B.

  17. Sam Posten

Also, Amazon f'ed up my 5th element, currently due the 20rh. Clown shoes all around

Are you a Prime member? If so, I would recommend initiating a chat with customer service regarding the delay. If you're nice about it, you shouldn't have to work too hard to get them to extend your Prime membership by a month by way of apology for the inconvenience. This has worked for me a few times.

  18. I had my own Amazon screw up this past week.

The complete Batman TV series was a decent price a week or so ago.

It was supposed to arrive Saturday, July 8th. It didn't. They said the 9th. Didn't. They said the 10th. Didn't. They said the 12th. Didn't.

The rep then told me his tracking info confirmed that it had been lost in transit. Would a refund work for me? Sure.

    It arrived two days later.

It started out as a USPS package. It arrived as a UPS package. [IMG]

  19. Mike Frezon

The rep then told me his tracking info confirmed that it had been lost in transit. Would a refund work for me? Sure. It arrived two days later.

So did you get the refund processed before the package arrived? If so, sounds like you got it for free.

  20. It sure does sound that way! 😀

Yeah. The refund was processed days before it arrived. I don't know if it WAS lost and then reappeared. Or what exactly happened.

But instead of the two day delivery one expects as a Prime member, the package was more than a week late.

I don't know if I've fallen into some hole in Amazon's delivery system…or what!

  21. Remember, y'all should be able to talk your way into a one-month extension of Prime when a delivery is missed. This has worked for me on the very rare occasion that Amazon misses a delivery here.

Of course, if this is happening again and again and again to you, then you've really got to question the value of the Prime membership.

  22. Kong, 5th Element (which is already a week late) and another blu were on the truck at 945 this morning, at 4:30 they just decided that it would be late and would get to me by 8. It's 8:30, no delivery and I'm on the phone with Amazon. I'm getting at LEAST a free month out of this.

Edit: No free month this time, they credited me with the most expensive item in the delivery, which was Kong Skull Island, including tax! Will see if it actually shows up tomorrow…

  23. Mike Frezon

This is the 4th Amazon package that s been late to me in the past month or so.

I had finally pulled the trigger on Amazon's exclusive Blu-Ray for "Agent Carter" Season 1, but it disappeared from my order before it shipped. No cancellation notice or anything. I had to look at the original order confirmation email to convince myself I hadn't accidentally deleted it.
