The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–I could find no printed Sunday flyer for Best Buy this week.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE Blu-ray release of A Wrinkle in Time.  For a $2 premium above the standard Blu release, you can get the title with a 40-page gallery book (cost $24.99).

–Target is also advertising an EXCLUSIVE release of Peter Pan on Blu-ray.  The EXCLUSIVE includes a 32-page storybook.  You will pay a $2 premium for the book (over the standard Blu-ray release @ Target).  Cost is $24.99.

–Target’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

Thank you, Mike! Nothing new on Blu for me this week. (other than the Floyd Norman Blu-ray I talked about here in the software forum.) It feels weird not getting Peter Pan again, but I'm good with the last Blu-ray of it.

Disney fans will want to note that physical CDs for the Frozen Broadway cast album are available Friday, and I have that coming from Amazon.

And physical CDs for the Mean Girls musical cast album are out Friday too, so I'm getting that as well.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike!

I was going to use this week to save up for the July B&N Criterion sale, but Jake just had to post about the Floyd Norman: An Animated Life documentary, so I will be getting that this week.

Happy to be of service to you...or not to be of service to your wallet.

But seriously, I've known about that doc for some time but was content to watch it on Netflix and put off getting the disc due to the high price tag. But with them not printing more copies after the current 50 sell out, I couldn't put it off any longer. Floyd's got a great story and continues to have a remarkable career, and I think any animation fans will be glad to have the movie in their collection, even though it would be nice if the price had been a bit lower. At least we are supporting independent cinema and distribution with the purchase.

Thanks as always, Mike!

I'm assuming that the Signature Collection release of Peter Pan is the same master as the Diamond Edition I already own, just renamed for its latest journey out of the Disney vault. These digital recreations from the original elements are spiffy clean but oddly lifeless. There's a static-ness to the presentations that I don't remember "feeling" when watching them as a kid.

I might pick up A Wrinkle in Time on a Black Friday down the road if the price falls to around the $7 range. Overall, a failure of adaptation. But the stuff it gets right (including some stuff that seemed unfilmable on the page) it gets very right. And it's almost always beautiful to look at, which isn't nothing with this hobby.

I still have the original MGM Blu-Ray of The Big Country in the shrink-wrap, after I found out about the horizontal stretching issue. By all indications this has been corrected for the Kino release so I should probably try and trade in my original copy for a buck or two and upgrade.

I'll also pick up "The Last Ship" Season 4 on Blu-Ray at some point. But this is a show that tends to drop significantly in price for Black Friday, etc. so I can wait for a better price.

Thanks for the prices, Mike. I will pick up Seven Brides for Seven Brothers once the price drops below $20. The 4K release of Game of Thrones is intriguing, but I think I will just eventually opt for a complete set of this series on BD or digital streaming, as that should be considerably less expensive.

Thanks for the prices, Mike.

I guess you forgot or didn't have time to add in the links to reviews this week because I know Robert Harris covered some of this week's releases, and I reviewed the complete series for The Invaders on DVD.

Wrinkle in Time and Incredibles at some point, likely when the price drops just a bit on the 4k's. I liked the former a whole lot more than most people (and haven't read the book). The message I took away from it is still with me, whether or not that message was intended. It's not a perfect film, but I was happy to have spent the money on three tickets when we left the theater.

Thanks Mike!

Seven Brides and hopefully some of the other Archive releases since Xmas will hopefully be eligible for the BN 40% sale in a couple weeks.
With my membership that puts most of usual priced WAC around $12 which is about as low as they usually sell in the first 6 months unless WBShop decides to allow newer releases into their 4/44 sales before 6-8 months pass. I guess the next 4/44 should be in 3-6 weeks (2016 it was late June, last year mid July)

Dang it, Jake! I wasn’t going to get anything this week, but I just looked at the trailer for this and now I want it too.

You're welcome.

(Don't blame me, blame the producers for not printing more after the current print run sells out.) ;)

Hey Rounduppers!

Big week for me. I've got both The Big Country and Seven Brides for Seven Brother coming to me on pre-orders.

And I'm another victim of Jake Lipson's advocacy for the Floyd Norman BD. (If only he was reeling in a commission!)

Thanks for the prices, Mike.

Just a helluva week for me, Matt! I plumb forgot.

I'll try to get those links in some time tomorrow. (I'd do it right now but it totally screws up my formatting in the OP of this thread and it becomes a time-consuming task.)

Since the person/people handling the orders for that have now joined the forum and are posting in the thread over in software, perhaps they'll hear you and give me one. ;) (They signed up with Floyd's name, but it's not entirely clear who is actually doing the posting.)

I don't see The Incredibles 4K listed; isn't it due out this week?
Yes, it's release date on 4K/UHD is June 5th. Amazon and Disney are doing their usual financial dance so it won't appear on Amazon's site until tomorrow the earliest. Best Buy has two listings including a Steelbook edition. Also, it's showing up on other sites like Deep Discount.

So is this confusion keeping it out of the WRU?

My review of Hurricane Heist 4k is up:

First time beating street date with my review since I have been back =)

No. But it's a contributing factor as to why it hasn't been added since Peter pointed it out. For example, Peter Pan and Wrinkle in Time are included in this WRU...and Amazon's got nothing on them either.

Hopefully this afternoon I'll get a chance to update this week's WRU with the 4k Incredibles line (which will have no pricing), and links to Matt's, Sam's and RAH's reviews.

Alrighty.

I have added links to reviews in the grids (by Matt, Sam & RAH). The reviewed films are Hurricane Heist, The Invaders (complete TV series), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Peter Pan.

And The Incredibles now is listed in the UHD/4k section of the grid.
