The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Another week of Twilight Time releases.  You know the drill.  They can only be pre-ordered HERE and HERE.

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their Blu copies of John Wick: Chapter 2.  There is no pricing premium as the steelbook price is listed at $19.99.

–Best Buy also has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with its Blu copies of The LEGO Batman Movie.  Again, no pricing premium is in play.  In fact, for both John Wick 2 and LEGO Batman, BB shows the non-steel release at the same price as the steelbook.

–Best Buy also has the following 4k UHD titles on sale this week for $14.99:  The Magnificent Seven, Passengers, The Martian.

–And, Best Buy has the following titles on sale this week (all Blu-ray unless otherwise noted):

$9.99:  Alibi, Arrival, Patriot’s Day, Hacksaw Ridge, Deepwater Horizon, Archer: Season 7 (DVD)

$11.99:  Logan, Assassin’s Creed

–Best Buy Odds and Ends:  None to report.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE LEO BATGIRL MINI-FIGURE with its Blu-ray copies of The LEGO Batman Movie.  This EXCLUSIVE release also includes three collectible postcards.  It appears this will NOT come at a premium as there is no (lower) price listed for a non-exclusive Blu of this film at Target.

–Target is also advertising a $5 savings if you buy BOTH a copy of Beauty and the Beast (2017) ($24.99 Blu/$19.99 DVD) AND an EXCLUSIVE Belle Fashion Collection Doll ($22.00).

–Target also has a list of $12 Blu-rays for sale this week.  Titles shown (and more).  Titles shown are:  Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Logan, Suicide Squad, Deadpool, Jason Bourne and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

–Target Odds and Ends: A list of $4 movies which includes the following Blu-rays:  Spider-Man 2, Pulp Fiction, Apocalypse Now, Training Day.  And DVDs of John Wick and The Shawshank Redemption.

Safe shopping, RoundUppers!

There's nothing calling out to me in this week's new releases...although I'm sure I'll be picking up John Wick 2 sometiem down the road when it starts getting into sale price territory. No rush, though, for me on that one.

I'm glad to have a quiet week as I've been picking up a lot lately...including my new region-free mod for my Oppo player and a bunch of titles from Amazon.uk. :D Oh. And a bunch of CDs (Diana Krall, Lea Salonga and Glen Campbell!).

Thank you for the RoundUp, Mike.

I did request They Live by Night from Criterion for review but no way to predict if we'll get it. Awaiting the Twilight Time releases, too, of course.

Nothing much in the way of personal acquisitions this week. Nice to have a slow week once in awhile to give the wallet a break.

Slight correction - The Rockford Files isn't due out on Blu until 6/27. At least not via Amazon.

Thanks for your work, Mike!

Quoting you from the RoundUp article itself:
Best Buy also has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with its Blu copies of The LEGO Batman Movie.

I think it would be more accurate to say "Best Buy will have exclusive steelbook packaging on a small handful of copies of The Lego Batman Movie, but there's no way in hell you'll get it unless you're right there at 10am when the store opens." ;)

The steelbook looks pretty awesome, and I applaud them for not charging a premium, but based on my negative experience last week with the Beauty and the Beast steel -- in which I called the store right away to ask for it to be held for me, but they left me on hold for 45 minutes while they sold out of it before I was given an opportunity to ask for it -- I'm not even going to bother trying that this week. I'd love the steelbook if it were easier to track down, but I'm exasperated and just have the regular edition coming from Amazon instead. At least Warner and Amazon have ended their feud at last.

I'll be getting Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on 4K Blu-ray. Best Buy's steelbok of Logan 4K Blu-ray was a disaster. They barely stocked any and sold out immediately.

Rockford Files have been delayed to June 27th.

Thanks, guys. It was listed--as recently as a couple days ago--in Amazon's release list for 6-13. I guess I'll have to bring it back in a couple weeks! :D

Both soundtracks for Cars 3 are preordered for a grand total of $18.63.

Please let us know how those are. I would normally pre-order Disney soundtracks, but on this one have decided that I want to see the film first. I have and enjoy the soundtrack to the first Cars, but the second one was such a dumpster fire that I don't want to reward this one with any additional money beyond the price of my movie ticket until I know if I liked it or not.

(On another note, have you seen this?

I tend to feel the same way, Jake, about giving extra money to something that's not enjoyable. But even the Cars 2 CD I enjoy...and that's saying a lot, since Cars 2 is the worst Pixar movie in my book.

I likely won't get to listen to the CD's for a while, unless next weekend goes spectacularly well. We're going on a trip the week after and I'll have limited to no internet access.

And yep, I was all over the Honest Trailer. It's a great series and I look forward to Tuesday's to see what movie they're going to do next.

Is your oppo the 203? And if so did you buy the "official" mod or the cheaper mod for the 103? I've heard the old mod works fine for
The new device and would prefer to spend less money.

Hey Dick!

It is the 203 that I have. I was told HERE (read several posts starting with this one) that the mod for the older Oppos works perfectly on the 203.

I haven't actually hooked it up yet...but this is the one I got. I ordered it for $58 from THIS eBay seller.

The seller emailed me a "manual" of sorts--instructions, really, on how to hook it up. But it looks pretty simple. This is what it looks like. It just arrived in the mail the other day:

full

None of my amazon.uk discs have arrived yet (Saturday is the projected delivery date) so I haven't yet actually plugged it in. But all you do for the install is plug in the USB cable and the RS-232 cable and you are good to go by using some remote control codes. The eBay link gives more details.

I woke up this morning and found confirmation from Amazon that The Lego Batman Movie has shipped, and will be here as scheduled with tomorrow's mail. We knew that the Warner/Amazon feud ended, but this is the first Warner title I've ordered from them since that, so I was still glad and relieved to see this confirmed officially.

Same here. It's confirmed as arriving today. Bit of disappointment that the price never came down from $29.99 for the 3D version, but at least it's coming.
