The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

  1. Another big RoundUp week–quantity-wise!

Hope y'all find something of interest to you.

My curiosity is piqued by the descriptions I've read of the film The Mustang. So I may pick that up sometime. Definitely Swing Time.

Safe shopping, RoundUppers! And thanks for your support each week.

  2. Thank you, Mike!

I'll be getting the standard Blu-ray of Captain Marvel from a store next week, and Mean Girls is on the way from Amazon.

The Mustang was a great movie in theaters and I would highly recommend it as a rental to anyone who missed it. I don't need to buy it for $22.99 though in such a crowded week. Maybe after a price drop.

Do you anticipate never going 4K Jake? I ask because if you do, why not future proof?

Good question. Ideally, I would like to, but my family who I live with doesn't care. They would be fine watching something at DVD quality to be honest. I'm the only movie fanatic in the house, and since it wouldn't matter to them, we're not likely to do it. It's not impossible, but seems extremely unlikely, so future proofing on every title isn't a huge priority for me. I did it for The Little Mermaid in February because I wanted the steelbook, and I might do it for Aladdin the next time the animated film comes out, but short of an all-time favorite that Disney might vault, I'd rather save the money and go for the basic edition.

  5. If they don’t care about the quality, then they shouldn’t care that it’s at its highest quality. Since it doesn’t matter to them, why not upgrade?

That's his business as I try not to question other people how they spend their monies.

Is there any reason to pickup the Mean Girls Anniversary Edition if I already have the original Blu ray

I haven't been able to find a press release on this, but I ordered it it since I do not have the original Blu-ray, which has been out of print for a while. I think it's weird that they didn't issue a press release, but I can post what's on it when I get it. It should be delivered sometime tomorrow.

  8. Like I said, for right now we are good with what we have.

On another note, Mean Girls just arrived from Amazon. There's a sticker on the front that says "Celebrating 15 Years of Mean Girls" but otherwise nothing on the actual packaging refers to it as an Anniversary Edition.

    The bonus features are:

    – Commentary by director Mark Waters, screenwriter/actress Tina Fey, and producer Lorne Michaels
    – Featurettes: "Only the Strong Survive," "The Politics of Girl World" and "Plastic Fashion"
    – Word Vomit (Blooper Reel)
    – "So Fetch" Deleted Scenes with optional commentary by Waters and Fey
    – Interstitials: "Frenemies," "New Girl" and "PSA"
    – Theatrical Trailer

Since I don't have the previous Blu-ray, I can't tell how this compares to it.

There is no digital copy included. The case includes a paper insert which advertises the Mean Girls Broadway musical, but there's nothing about it on the disc. I think this is a missed opportunity to include some sort of behind-the-scenes footage or something to promote the show.

In a distinctive touch, the keepcase itself is pink.

@24fpsNinja @Todd Erwin I hope this information is helpful.

Appreciate the info. Looks to be the same as the original release so I’m happy that I don’t have to double dip. Funny you mentioned the pink case because I switched my original with a pink case too.

Looks to be the same as the original release so I’m happy that I don’t have to double dip.

I guess that would be why they didn't bother to issue a press release for it. If it's identical to the original release, the purpose of it is to put the film back into print, since the original Blu-ray fell out of print some time ago, rather than an attempt by Paramount to do anything new with it.

I'm glad to have it since I never got it before, but I do think it's a missed opportunity to include something about the Broadway musical. If they shot even just a five-minute interview with Tina Fey and the cast of the Broadway show and put it on there, it would essentially be free advertising for the show that would reach directly to the fan base. There's a paper insert with an ad for the show included, but a video featurette would have driven that home in a more substantial way than a print ad. By simply re-pressing the old disc, they didn't incur any costs involved with actually authoring a new one, but it sacrifices the chance to promote the show, which is also produced by Paramount.

But I don't work at Paramount, so what do I know?
