The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–I’ve got no Best Buy information in this early edition of the RoundUp.  I’m going to be traveling for a couple days and have made an executive decision to post early without access to the BB flyer…especially since they have been rather unhelpful the last several weeks anyway.  There is always the option (once the ad goes live on Sunday) to go to BestBuy.com and click on the weekly ad to see the media sales (I almost get the impression that they’d prefer you did that rather than depend on a Sunday flyer these days).  Of course, if anyone wants to post any BB information here once it’s available, please feel free.  Or, if I happen upon a flyer during my travels, I’ll post something when I have access.

–Best Buy Odds and Ends:  None to report.

–Target this week has TWO EXCLUSIVE RELEASES of Fifty Shades Darker this week.  The first is a Blu-ray combo pack release for $19.99 which includes EXCLUSIVE BONUS MATERIAL with 30 minutes of extra content.  The second is an EXCLUSIVE LIMITED DELUXE EDITION Blu combo pack which includes the same 30 minutes of bonus material plus wine charms, a wine stopper and napkins for $25.99

–Target DOES use this week’s flyer, however, to give prices on two new releases from LAST WEEK (which were NOT included in last week’s flyer).  This is getting confusing.

–Target is advertising A Dog’s Purpose @ $19.99 Blu-ray/$17.99 DVD…as well as Rings for $24.99 Blu-ray and $19.99 DVD.

–Target also has a list of movies for $15 which includes Blu-rays of La La Land, Fences and Collateral Beauty along with DVDs of Passengers, Allied, and Moonlight.

–Target Odds and Ends: Target also has a list of DVDs for $10 which includes Hidden Figures, Jackie, The Girl on the Train, Bad Moms and Fifty Shades of Grey.

  1. Sorry about a lack of Best Buy info this week, gang. I had to put this to bed early with no chance to scouting up a flyer (assuming there even is one. I suspect there will.).

Thanks, as always, for any "likes" for the OP! I always see 'em and appreciate 'em.

    😀

  2. Thanks for the early RoundUp!

Don't know why Fifty Shades Darker hasn't arrived. Universal is usually very good with giving lots of lead time. As for Fox's Heat, I haven't heard whether they're going to send it or not, but it wouldn't come until the week of release anyway.

I'll be picking up Serial Mom this week. The more John Waters, the better.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! 🙂

If you're going to wear white while watching it please be sure to watch it before September 4th this year – you don't want to end up like Juror #8 😉

Any idea why Godfather Part 2 costs 50% more than parts 1 and 3?

Because it's two films in one — telling the stories of the rise of both Vito and Michael Corleone?

I've pre-ordered Heat — that price is the bargain of the year. I've never seen The Accidental Tourist, so I may pick that one up eventually, too.

    BB: Fantastic Beasts BD 12.99

For those of you who passed on Fantastic Beasts when it was $24.99 on release week wanting a price drop, here's what you've been waiting for: $12.99 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Be…d=1494267158&sr=1-2&keywords=fantastic+beasts.

Thanks to you both. I was able to control myself and have just now pulled the trigger because of that price. I'll now set aside a day in th near future to see what's new in the world of Harry Potter.

I also saw that Fences had dropped to $14.99 and ordered that, too!

  6. Huh. Amazon's actually got a number of good prices right now on some recent Blu-rays:

    $15.00: La La Land

$14.99: Hidden Figures, Passengers, Arrival, Moonlight, Manchester By the Sea

    $12.99: Magnificent Seven, Sing.

  7. Well, they are other stores prices as usual, but at least this week they did at least allow their algorithm to bring them down temporarily.

As long as WM, BBY, and Target force them, they will at least bring some of their prices down.

  8. Wow. That Fences price is mighty tempting, — I wasn't expecting it to drop this quickly — but I think I'll wait still, on account of having four new CDs on the way to me on Friday. Why are all the good sales when so many new things are coming out at the same time?

  9. B-ROLL

FYI If you haven't already picked up the Target blu ray exclusive of LaLalLand it DOES scan for $14.99 (as I suspected …) (assuming your store has the exclusive.

    That's one great deal…

  10. Since you wonderful people reminded me of LaLaLand and Fences and Fantastic Beasts last night, I headed to Target to get the first two.

Not a single copy in the store. Period.

Headed to Best Buy to get LaLaLand with a price match.

Ended up not getting LaLaLand…but got five other movies (Million Dollar Arm, Secretariat, Jerry Maguire, Fantastic Beasts; Fifty Shades Darker for Andrey).

    So…yeah.
