The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, continues to advertise the Blu-ray of Deadpool for $19.99 (DVD $14.99).

–Best Buy also continues its deal to get a FREE $10 BB GIFTCARD when you spend $50 or more on select TV seasons AND MOVIES!  This is a change from recent weeks when the deal only applied to purcahses of select TV seasons.

–Best Buy has select Blu-ray titles on sale 3 for $15 this week (Up to 32 titles from which to choose).  Titles shown in ad are:

Inception, Willie Wonka & Chocolate Factory, The Hangover, The Blind Side, Rango,  Dumb & Dumber.

–Best Buy Odds and Ends: None to report.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE RELEASE of Zoolander 2. Target’s copies have EXCLUSIVE PACKAGING and a disc with 45 minutes of EXCLUSIVE BONUS CONTENT.

–Target is also advertising a FREE $5 TARGET GIFTCARD if you buy BOTH The 5th Wave movie AND any book in The 5th Wave series. Shown in the ad is the hardcover edition of The Last Star for $15.19.

Yeah....I'm not sure what's up with those BB exclusive Blu-rays.

You'd think they'd be in the flyer...but the "new release" lists I check swear they are new BB exclusives this week. Yet not a peep in the Sunday flyer. Go figure.

Thanks in advance everyone for any "likes" I get on the OP.

Definitely some eclectic titles released this week...

Yeah, the fact that they aren't in the ad makes me think that they won't be available at most stores. I had drive about 25 miles to another BB to get Munich when it was a BB-exclusive because none of the half a dozen stores closer to me carried it. It'd be one thing if they got one or two copies and sold out but they had zero in most stores. Why pay to have an exclusive and then not carry it in most of your stores?

Honestly, I may just wait and see what titles that Scream Factory announces at San Diego Comic Con in July because even with a movie-only disc available, I could still see them releasing The 'Burbs.

People that time forgot for me, hopefully it will be a nice upgrade from the mgm dvd. Now if we could just get Warlords of Atlantis and Arabian Adventure released.

I should have my review of Manhunter up very soon. If you're on the fence, I'd say go ahead and buy it - the theatrical cut looks and sounds great with some nice newly recorded interviews with the four surviving leads. Disc two ports over all of the bonus features from the old Anchor Bay DVD releases.

Thanks, Mike, for including the link for The Sum of Us. I have also reviewed The Finest Hours already, and that review can be found here.

Nothing else on the review front from the list for me this week, but there are some interesting releases in general. Thanks for the RoundUp.

Huh. Thanks, Matt. I saw your review and thought I had added the link to the draft of the RoundUp...but I must've screwed it up somehow.

It has now been added to the OP!

I've never heard of Risen...but it sure sounds like an interesting film. I'm guessing the audio track on The Finest Hours s going to be worth the cost of the disc...so I'll be in for that eventually. From Matt's review:

Audio: 5/5
The DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound mix offers an enveloping environment throughout all of the sea sequences with howling winds, lashing waves, and pelting rain offering atmospheric details that put the listener into the middle of the action.

And I am really curious about that Dock Ellis "dockumentary." Sounds intriguing...but, again, I don't know much of anything about it.

Another Dolby Atmos film I viewed in a movie theater that doesn't have a Dolby Atmos sound track. I might buy the disc, but when it's discounted a lot more than it is now.

Just the Dr. Who DVD for me.
That release concludes the "Classic Who" DVD sets and the old ones are rapidly going OOP ....(Example: "City of Death" already going for in excess of $100 on eBay ...)

I supported Lobster Film's Kickstarter for the Buster Keaton restorations, so waiting anxiously for the Kino Blu-ray from them. A little disappointed that I haven't already received it.

Manhunter (Collector's Edition) - great to hear they are porting all the extras from the Anchor Bay DVD releases so I can retire them
The Chase
The King and Four Queens
The Private Affairs of Bel Ami

Plus an odd assortment of older titles that either Amazon has reduced prices on or some members on this obscure website called hometheaterforum raved about and got me to spend my hard-earned money:
  • The Fugitive Complete Series
  • Little House on the Prairie Season 1 Remastered Blu-ray
  • Schindler's List Blu-ray
  • The Honeymooners Classic 39 Blu-ray
  • Super Friends (an assortment of DVDs each under 10 bucks)

Hey, Scott!

Another goof on my part this week. I meant to specifically point that out and somehow let it get by me. I have fixed the OP. Thanks!

Oooh, the very last Doctor Who disc (well - of Vintage Who, that is). I think we're all caught up now!

. . . well, until the BBC finds another story or two. :)

If I had only known there was some significance to this Dr. Who...Doctor Who disc, I might've featured it this week.

But I'm clueless (in fact I have to work to remember NOT to abbreviate "Doctor" when posting those titles. In fact, I remember, early on, asking what is this "Doctor Who" that keeps showing up on the new release list. I had no idea.

I've had a few of those over the years. (And to everyone's credit, there have been very few instances where I've been made fun of for not knowing! :D )

I had no idea what "DeGrassi High" was. Nor "What Not to Wear" (I actually became a fan of that show). I also had never heard of Tyler Perry until his stuff started showing up on the RoundUp.

I'm sure there are others, too, but I'm just not thinking of them at the (senior) moment.

I took advantage of this yesterday. As per usual, the blue shirt had no clue about the deal until the register prompted him to swipe a gift card (he had no GC's at his register and had to go looking for one). He kind of paused, squinted at the screen, and said, "It looks like something you bought triggered a gift card bonus." I explained that they were running a promo that awarded a $10 GC for any $50 purchase of movies or TV.

But at least this deal was working properly in the computer and forced the associate to authorize the gift card before the transaction could be completed, rather than me having to go stand in line at the service desk to try and get them to honor their own advertised promotion. Small steps! :D

Yeah the clerk that rang me up was surprised as well. It wouldn't let hi9m proceed until he activated the gift card.

FYI the Target exclusive packaging for Zoolander 2 is a slipcover that is basically the same as the other cover but has some "splatters" on it Extras appear to be on a separate disc
