The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–I got a Best Buy flyer in my local paper this weekend!

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their Blu copies AND their 4k UHD copies of Logan.  You will pay a premium price for the steelbook, however,  While their regular Blu copies are $19.99, the Blu steelbooks are listed at $21.99.  The UHD Steelbooks are listed at $26.99.  The flyer ad doesn’t show a price for a non-steel copy of the UHD Logan.

–You can also “Enter for a chance to win a 4k Steelbook signed by artist Steve McNiven.”  No purchase necessary.  Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C. and who are age 18 + (except AL & NE, 19+).  Official rules at LoganSweeps.FoxFilm.com

–The two Star Wars Trilogies are available on Blu-ray for $29.99 apiece.

–The following Walking Dead-related releases are on sale this week at Best Buy:

$14.99:  The Walking Dead: Season 1 (Blu), Z Nation: Season 3 (DVD)

$17.99:  Fear the Walking Dead: Season 1 (Blu)

$19.99:  Ash vs. Evil Dead: Season 1 (Blu)

–Best Buy is advertising the big Deluxe Package release of the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s album for $129.99 (Online only).  Amazon is carrying it for $117.99

–Best Buy Odds and Ends:  “Get started on great TV for $9.99 each:”  Blu-ray:  National Geographic: Mars, Sons of Anarchy: S1, and Black Sails: Season 1.  DVD series include Big Bang Theory, Full House, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, The Americans, Arrow, Archer.  Choose from more than 50 titles.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE RELEASE of Logan on Blu-ray.  Target will include (with no pricing premium) a 36-page photo collection book.

–Target also wants you to know that they still have copies of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on sale ($24.99 Blu-ray/$17.99 DVD).  [I just picked up this title recently on Amazon for $12.99 on Blu.]

–Target Odds and Ends: A list of $10 DVDs which includes The Secret Life of Pets, The Girl on the Train, Jason Bourne and Hacksaw Ridge.

  1. Safe shopping RoundUppers!

The only thing for me this week is that BIG deluxe set getting released of Sgt. Pepper's…celebrating the 50th anniversary of the album's release. But that's quite enough! 😀

Thanks in advance for any "likes" of the OP.

  2. Thanks for the ROundUp, Mike, and thanks for including the links to the reviews. Always appreciated.

Fox has informed me the UHD review copy of Logan is on the way. I imagine it'll arrive Monday. I put in for a few other releases this week, but they haven't arrived as of yet.

  3. As always, thanks for your work, Mike.

I liked Logan while I was watching it in the theater and would recommend a rental if anyone interested in it skipped it there, but I promptly forgot about it after that and didn't find it staying with me emotionally, so I don't think I need to own it. Nothing else for me this week either.

  4. Thanks as always, Mike!

Just Logan for me this week. It's worth noting that the Best Buy steelbooks and the Target exclusive of Blu-Ray/UHD releases include a second disc with the black and white "Noir" version of the film. Not sure if that's also true of the regular Blu-Ray and UHD releases.

I'm pretty sure that's an across-the-board feature for all the Blu and UHD releases.

  6. Anyone interested in Logan in 4K might want to check out their local Wal Mart. Don't know if everyone's has this but here's what I found today at mine

Now, it rang up at 24.96, but I argued that 19.96 was the price they were advertising and eventually got them to honor that price.

By the way that purchase officially pops my 4K cherry (even though I don't yet have a 4K display, though I'm expecting one to arrive any day now, or a UHD player)

Guessing a one-off mislabel. I saw that display in 2 stores today picking up other items and both had it 24.96.

Quite obviously a mistake, but thats a YP not an MP

Also most chain retail stores have a policy (or maybe it's even a law) that they have to honor any displayed price even if it's a mistake?

  9. The Best Buy near me was sold out of the Steelbook Blu-Ray of Logan so I ended up going with Target release with the book. As with Target's exclusive book release of the My Fair Lady Blu, the discs are only held in place with flimsy cardboard tabs. Because there's only slots for two discs, the Noir Blu-Ray disc comes in a cardboard sleeve that is riding loose inside the book. Target's solution this time around to keep everything in place is a slipcover so tight that the compression keeps everything from moving. It does make extracting the book from the slipcover challenging, however.
