The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, apparently has no printed Sunday flyer.  At least I couldn’t find one at any of my usual haunts.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE Blu-ray release of The Greatest Showman.  It includes a 36-page “Behind-the-Curtain” book.  No pricing premium for the bonus exclusive—priced at $19.99.

–Target is also advertising $5 off when you buy BOTH the movie The Greatest Showman AND the original soundtrack CD of the music from the film ($11.99).

–Target also has an EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK with its release of Suicide Squad:  Hell to Pay.  No pricing premium in play for that release either.  (Although a “regular” Blu release of the title is not shown in the ad.)

–Target’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

No Sunday flyer again, apparently, for BB this week.

It's been a while since I've said thanks for all the "likes" given the RoundUp. So...THANKS! :D

Back to a nice mix of new releases and catalog titles this week.

So safe shopping everyone!

Thanks for the prices, Mike.

All of the films featured in your poster line-up this week are movies I either want to see or own eventually. Time and wallet will determine when they are watched.

I'll be getting Deep Red this week (and, fortunately, I pre-ordered it at a vastly cheaper price than Amazon is currently charging). I plan on holding off on Phantom Thread until the 4K comes out next month.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! :)

Thanks as always, Mike.

I'll pick up the UHD release of Greatest Showman down the road once it drops to $15 or below. I liked it, but not quite enough to pay release date pricing, even when it's quite reasonable for a 4K release.

I'll probably pick up Outlander S3 on Blu-Ray, though, since S2 took forever to drop below $30.

Glad you mentioned THAT, Travis!

I had wanted to remember to point out in my secondary post in the thread that anyone interested in the 4k of Phantom Thread needs to be patient and wait until May. I'm glad I decided to include it in the grid (even though it's not coming out this week).

I've got two titles pre-ordered for this week: the 4k of The Greatest Showman and the Blu of the '34 Cleopatra. I can't wait to see how the 1934 version looks...and am curious to see what Peg and I think of The Greatest Showman when we give it a second viewing. We weren't knocked off our feet when we saw it in the theater.

If I were going to future-proof and get anything in 4K, Phantom Thread would probably be it. It is my favorite film from 2017, and the cinematography is just gorgeous. But I live with my parents, who don't care about image quality as long as it's not awful, so they won't see the need to upgrade (they barely watch movies anyway), and I wouldn't have enough money to do that on my own. So, I might as well just keep my pre-order of the regular Blu-ray, which was standing before the 4K one was announced and will still look awesome. If I ever do upgrade to 4K, I'd love to be wrong and would double dip for this title. But it seems to me that that possibility is so remote, it's not worth planning for.

Molly's Game is another one of my favorite films of 2017 and one which didn't get as much awards love or box office attention as I think it deserved. I saw it in a packed theater on its Christmas opening and the audience was really into it. I then went to Molly's book afterwards and found that terrific also. Jessica Chastain gives the best performance of her career to date, and the movie really succeeds because it focuses on Molly's journey, rather than on the more obvious temptation of celebrity and gossip. I'd highly reccomend the movie to anyone interested, and am looking forward to seeing it again.

After my recent detour to Target.com for The Last Jedi, I'm glad I'll be getting these from Amazon with no hassle.

All the Money in the World was a good movie, but not something I feel would have enough replay value to justify a purchase. Those interested should rent it.

I didn't like Greatest Showman at all, so that's an easy pass for me.

Thank you, Mike!

The Greatest Showman in glorious 4K! Can’t wait to see this terrific film again. One of 2017’s most entertaining films.

Greatest Showman, Suicide Squad and Incredible Hulk, all 4k. I used some GC's so I'm paying about $38 total. This is on top of the Disney Movie Club order (Freaky Friday, Saludos Amigos and The Love Bug) and Amazon 3/$50 (Amazing Spider Man 2, LaLaLand, Interstellar) from last week...

That's likely it until the end of the month and Grease.

Thanks Mike!

The last time I had a pre-order with Amazon before this, for The Shape of Water, it took them until late Monday afternoon to ship it out, which prompted a mini-discussion in the Roundup thread for that week over possible lateness. A few other people also had later-than-usual shipping times with Shape of Water. My Shape of Water came through UPS.

This time, all is back to normal, as I've already gotten a shipping notice. They combined Molly's Game and Phantom Thread into one shipment and billed it all together, even though I ordered them at different times, and it appears to be on schedule on Tuesday through the post office as usual.

For some reason, my local Best Buy only stocked the higher-priced collector's edition of Outlander: Season Three so I had to go across the river to Target to get the regular Blu-Ray release.
