The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their 4k/UHD copies of Doctor Sleep.  There’s a $5 pricing premium above the standard release.  The Steelbook will cost you $32.99.

–Best Buy is also advertising STEELBOOK PACKAGING with its 4k/UHD copies of Boyz N the Hood.  This is, apparently, not an exclusive, however.  Best Buy’s price is $24.99

–Best Buy is also advertising an EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK Blu-ray release of The Breakfast Club.  Price is $14.99.

Another interesting week with some interesting titles.

It's definitely a big week for Spike Lee fans.

Hope everyone finds something they like.

Safe shopping, Rounduppers!

Thanks, Mike. Nothing for me this week, which is fine, because I have a lot at the end of February to save for.

Thanks for the prices, Mike.

I'm slated to review Doctor Sleep, but it hasn't arrived yet. Ditto on a couple of Kino titles. I'm patiently awaiting their arrival.

I'm taking a pass this week as well. Looking forward to Matt's reviews on some of those Kino titles, as they may go on my list for the next sale.

You didn't miss much with the latter. I was really looking forward to, and ended up being significantly disappointed by, The Good Liar. Despite the presence of Bill Condon, Jeffrey Hatcher, Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren, all of whom have done previous work that I love, this one didn't work at all. It just kept getting more and more ridiculous until it collapsed under the weight of its own stupidity. So if you're curious, I'd definitely suggest renting it first. Or just watch Mr. Holmes instead, which has the same creative team and star in a far better movie.

Okay, I lied.

Best Buy lowered the price of the original Frozen 4K steelbook to $14.99 from a usual $34.99. Since that came out in October, I assume they must be trying to clear out stock. So I broke down and bought it so it can match the steelbook I plan to get for the sequel. This doesn't feel as bad as a normal double dip because it was absurdly cheap for a Disney title, and I'll pass my original Blu-ray to a friend.

If anyone else has been holding off on the 4K edition, you likely won't find it much cheaper.

For sure. I heard the same thing from Filmweek, so I didn't rush to see The Good Liar in the theater. It's 100% a Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime movie on a Saturday night when Rosie is asleep at my feet. :)

Oh damn! Thank you so much for this notification. I've had the 4k on my Amazon watch list forever, as my blu ray is toast and skips all over. I figured there would probably be some 1&2 combo pack when 2 comes out that would make it cheaper, but this is too good to pass up.

Sure.

Looking through the Best Buy website, there are a few other Disney 4K steelbooks on sale in addition to Frozen: the first three Toy Story films, Zootopia, the Iron Man films, and Captain Marvel are $14.99 each. Tangled, Big Hero 6, Moana and Toy Story 4 are $19.99. I have no idea how long this sale is going to last though.

Given the continual pissing match between Amazon and Disney, I doubt you'll find too many bargains on Disney titles there, especially high-profile new releases.

Target will have a four-disc Blu-ray+DVD 2-Movie Collection as an exclusive, but it does not appear that there will be a 4K version of this. Also, it features Frozen II first on the spine, which is crazy.

The steelbook for the first one is probably the most gorgeous steelbook I own, and the one for the sequel is designed to match it.

Best Buy's sale on older Disney steelbooks that I posted about last weekend appears to have ended. Everything I can remember that was discounted last week, whether to $14.99 or $19.99, has now reverted to the $34.99 retail price. I'm so glad I got Frozen at the right time.
