The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you’ll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business…even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

  1. I'll pick up Bridge Of Spies this week. At some point, I'll get I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (still the most fun and best blaxploitation parody). Thanks for the prices, Mike! 🙂

  2. Batman: Bad Blood is on the way…and I had to go through some hoops to make sure it fit into the budget. We're baby stepping our way out of credit card debt (and then the car and house), so every…thing…we…buy…is accounted for. Short term pain for long term gain. Thanks for your work, Mike!

  3. Thanks for your work as usual, Mike.  It feels weird not getting the big Disney release this week, but I'm sticking with my original Diamond Edition of Snow White, as the nominal gains in bonus features do not offset the massive losses, and the original Blu-ray really didn't leave anything to be desired anyway.  I might get Bridge of Spies down the line when it's cheap, but not for $22.99 I won't.

  4. One of the features of the new forum is not having the need to use Tapatalk. This forum looks pretty good on my iPhone, without any of the issues that I had with Tapatalk.

Jason:  Good for you!  I've been there.  Credit cards are tricky, tricky business.  If you don't use them wisely, you can find yourself in a deep hole, quickly.  Best of luck.

It's cool to think my little effort here might be of some help to you as it pertains to any kind of discretionary spending you might still have at your disposal.

  6. Thanks Mike! You should see the workbook we have going at home. We're both slated to pay off all credit cards by March 5 (thanks to some tax refunds). And then we start working on Andrey's car and the house.

A lot of credit goes to Andrey…he really kicked me into gear to do this. He motivated, I put together the workbooks. (And Dave Ramsey for keeping my confidence up every single day.)

  7. Hey everybody!

I'm glad you have all been able to find this week's effort!  Big thanks to Adam Gregorich for figuring out a new system on posting up the RoundUps each week.  Now he'll just need to figure out how to explain it to me so that this feeble mind can understand it!

And for those who came looking early on and saw just the placeholder in the OP, there is now a link in the OP which takes you to a magical place where the RoundUp is available for viewing!

As I like to remember to do each week…thanks to everyone for their "likes."  They are always noted and appreciated.

A little discipline goes a very long way on these matters.  And it's always good for one of the parties involved to have that discipline!

Couldn't agree more, Jake.  The last Blu-ray of Snow White will be just fine for me.  We'll see if UHD convinces us otherwise seven years from now.

Is that the way it will be from now on? A seperate article and then the thread?

  10. Is that the way it will be from now on? A seperate article and then the thread?

Not exactly sure at this stage.  There's a ton of formatting issues and we are still working things out.

Opinions?  (Not that I can guarantee we'll be able to accommodate however you folks might react.)

  11. Given that the thread's posts are reproduced as comments under the article anyway, what exactly is the point of linking to an article instead of just posting the whole WRU in the thread like always?  Not a complaint here — just literally asking.

I personally liked it where the content was available in the forum without having to go to a separate area (especially when it opens in a new tab or window).

  13. It is worth noting for any fans of musical theatre that Josh Groban's STAGES LIVE concert special is releasing tomorrow.

I really don't like how they've packaged it, though.

Even though all but one of the songs were released on CD last year as a studio album, the Blu-ray is not coming out individually; you've got to buy the new live CD (of the exact same songs) in order to get the blu-ray (or DVD, whichever) packaged in there.

Furthermore, there is a Target exclusive edition with 3 extra songs on the CD…but THAT one appears to only come with a DVD.  So, if you want the Blu-ray PLUS Target's extra songs, it appears you would have to buy it twice (once as the blu-ray standard edition, and once as the Target version of the CD+DVD.)

Personally, I would probably enjoy having the Blu-ray, but I don't feel the need to buy another CD, when I already spent $16.99 on the studio album's Target exclusive CD last year (which had different exclusives, naturally.)  But if I were going to be forced to buy the CD again to get the blu-ray, I would of course want to have the version with the most music for my dollars.

So…honestly….the mishandling of this release seems morel likely to put me off it entirely than anything else.  I will go to see it in the theater tonight because that will be fun, but after that I'm much more likely to just stick with the studio album…whereas I would not be opposed to getting the blu-ray if it were released individually or at the very least available with all the music.

  14. For those looking for a little boost for Snow White or another Disney title —   Disney Movie Rewards now has a Generic Disney $5 MQ for  Bluray or Bluray combo (not a specific title)  available for 250points.   The coupon printer software is a bit of a pain to use/install (don't try it at work) and you must have a printer attached and able to print it.

There may be a possibility it could even work for Bridge of Spies since it's sort of Disney/TouchStone/Dreamworks/Fox.   Nobody has tried it yet at a store that just scans coupons like Walmart or Target to know if it would work though

  15. I discovered the hard way very recently that DMR points expire after something like 210 days of no activity. 10+ years of points, POOF! 🙁

(No response from customer service, either.)

That's really bad — I had peaked about 35K points a few months ago since they got rid of most of teh High Point tours and things related to Disney Cruises/Free Passes to the park.   I finally just splurged on some Birthday/Christmas gifts, a couple Star Wars Collectibles posters, and a few other little things, but I'm still at 15K.    I would have been physically ill to lose anywhere close to those numbers.

I know some people got scared about their points with all the new rules and then DMR put out the  messed up email threatening to take away points immediately even for folks who had been very active.    By no response you mean they haven't contacted you or that they haven't re-instated some/all of the points.

If you could get  a live CSR on the phone or ?? chat then I know they have reinstated points for some in the past, but it really appears they're trying to purge inactive accounts  or at least force you to do something with your account more frequently.     What I'm a bit unsure about is what they consider activity (buy, redeem points, or just log in to the account.

  16. I never got an email or anything regarding a change in the rules — I just happened to log in for the first time in a while and discovered a zero point balance.

I emailed them about it but got no response. If I work up the gumption, I'll try calling.

Do you know how long it had been since you added/redeemed points   or about since you logged in?  The fact that you didn't get a heads up or warning mail may

be in your favor, but it seems to be much more hit or miss since they  changed the terms the first time starting a few months ago and I think at least one more time

    recently.
