The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

    and Happy Thanksgiving!

    Back atcha Matt!

And Happy Thanksgiving to all RoundUppers past & present! We've all got a lot to be grateful for.

Nothing for me this week, although the 4k Turtle Odyssey is the kind of thing I might be able to get talked into. Has anyone seen it?

  2. I have just one on pre-order:

    • Big Trouble in Little China: Collector’s Edition Steelbook

I've spent quite a bit on sales from Kino, Criterion & Arrow from B&N this November.
Now, to find time to actually watch some of these titles!

  3. Is there word on whether Big Trouble in Little China is a new transfer/improvement over the old Blu-Ray? If so, I hope they keep the Chapter Stop that skips the intro scene of Egg Shen explaining who Jack is and why he's a hero (which the studio made Carpenter put in) and skips straight to the title sequence. When I have friends over who've never seen the film I always skip straight to that title sequence because you're actually not supposed to know what to make of this loud mouth braggart truck driver mumbling nonsense (albeit awesome nonsense) into his CB radio.

Have you paid your dues, Jack? Yes, sir. The check is in the mail…

  4. It would be a mistake to wait for a 4K set of Game of Thrones. HBO will not release any more seasons in 4K unless the current seasons they have out sell enough copies.

  5. Target has 15% off on order pickup, drive up, same day delivery and shipped movies, books and video games in the Circle app. It says on select titles, but the three or four 4k UHD's I've spot checked have been included. Expires tonight at 11:59 pm PT.

  6. Thanks Todd. I posted a comment in there about how there are fewer chapter stops, and more importantly, how the second chapter takes you well into the movie, versus in the original BD release it took you right to the opening credit scene, skipping the studio-mandated re-shoot and inclusion of Egg Shen basically spoilerizing the movie's plot and ending. Carpenter had never intended for that scene to be shot and included by the studio insisted upon it. Unfortunate. I can't even make a Blu-Ray bookmark (that feature is disabled) to be able to skip past it, which is something I do for friends I'm introducing the movie to for the first time.

Trust me, the movie works wayyyyy better that way.

  7. I placed an Amazon order early this morning (Wed) and even with "free Prime shipping," the quoted delivery date isn't until Monday (5 days).

What happened to Prime's free 2-day shipping? This stuff should be arriving no later than Friday.

I've got a fairly large backlog of unwatched discs and I'm willing to give them some slack since the holidays have to mean there's a TON more orders than usual but once it's January, I think the latest I should be getting discs is Thursday. Even that allows for them to not ship until the day of release (which is dumb anyway).

Same thing happened to me. Must be heavy delivery schedule for this time of year.

  10. I went to Best Buy to get GOT season 8 today and an employee had to grab It for me from the back. We have been snowed in for a few days so maybe they were backlogged? But they should have been out on the shelves.

I went to BB to pick up my BF order and there was a GOT display near the checkout area and there were some on the regular racks,I don't like the packaging on the 4K version

    There are apparently variants..

When I went there was no display, there was the usual Game of Thrones section but no variants of season 8 was there.

The link is now in the grid, Matt!

Great review. It sounds like a film I'd really like to see one day.

Thanks, Mike. Sorry I couldn't get it up earlier. Criterion only sent it on Thursday.
