The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their 4k/UHD copies of The Wizard of Oz.  There’s a $5 pricing premium.  It is $29.99.

  1. Thank you, Mike!

Them That Follow is a terrific movie that no one else seems to have seen. It's a shame that it is not getting a Blu-ray release. I will probably get the DVD sooner or later, but not right now. I'm curious to see if it may end up on Blu-ray in other countries, and I would hypothetically be willing to consider importing a region-free HD version if one were to become available. If not, I'll just end up with the DVD down the line.

So, nothing for me this week.

  2. I already have Matewan and Days of Wine and Roses Blu-rays in-hand. Man of a Thousand Faces has shipped so I should have that by Tuesday. I'll probably get The Wizard of Oz at some point. I'm actually seeing that film in a Dolby Cinema theater today as I've already viewed it in 4K/Dolby Vision when iTunes mistakenly had it available digitally a few months back.

  3. Probably It's a Wonderful Life in 4K for me, unless the early reviews are terrible.

I'd pick up "Batman Beyond" down the road if they come out with a cheaper regular edition instead of that expensive box-o-crap edition.

    Thanks as always, Mike!

I’m hoping that there are reviews for both the 4K and the new Blu (available as a separate SKU – compared to the prior Blu)

The 4K/Dolby Vision digital of "It's a Wonderful Life" looks beautiful so I expect the 4K disc to look slightly better.

    Have you considered digital /iTunes?

Available now for only $14.99 in 4K with iTunes extras.

  7. Thanks for the RoundUp, You Ol' HTF RoundUp pal, you! Now, where's my hat?

A few purchases for me this week:

    • An American Werewolf in London
    • It's A Wonderful Life
    • Man of a Thousand Faces

    On hold for sales:

    • The 3-D Nudie-Cuties Collection
    • Days of Wine and Roses
    • Matewan
    • Mr. Nice Guy
    • Wizard of Oz
  8. Thanks Mike! I hadn’t heard about the American Werewolf SE. I have been meaning to revisit the movie that scared my 15-year-old self (and his new girlfriend) nearly out of the theater. Looking forward to the new transfer and all the extras.

    Trick or Treat!

Amazon has bumped The Wizard of Oz 4K up to $22.96.

I finally got charged for my preorder overnight…I'm glad I didn't cancel it. It turns out the $19.96 preorder price was the best available for a good long time. Only downside is the disc won't arrive til Thursday and I won't be able to watch til Saturday.

  10. Something I didn't notice earlier: Target is doing a Buy 2, Get 1 free sale again online only. It says "select titles," but the sale verbage is on every title on the first three pages of a 4k search.

Man, I've bought three sets of three already. As I stated in another thread this past month, Target has definitely increased the frequency of these "buy 2 get one free" sales.

Yeah…if I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say they're trying to move a lot of product before Christmas or as a way of clearing space to get rid of physical media in their warehouses for all time. I don't know if I'll bite on anything this time around.

I missed out on or passed on the previous two but I may have to bite this time.

  14. IAWL and Wizard of Oz arrived today from BBY

Nudie Cuties, Days of Wine and Roses, Mr Nice Guy coming from Target ?Wed.

Criterion Sale appears to be starting Friday/Nov 1 at B&N so a bunch of items will soon be mine including the Godzilla box and Matewan though no telling when I'll get around to those.

Spider-man FFH 3D arrived from Australia today as well just to add insult to the pile

The end of this sale is Nigh …
View attachment 64591or November 2nd whichever comes first .. 😉

  16. Jeff Cooper

Why does it say 'Valid when you shop… In-store' and then directly below that say 'Available on-line only'?

The three colored icons are how the offer is valid. The three available all start with online orders. Shopping in store is not valid…but based on this year, I'm guessing another 20% off sale is right around the corner for Target media.

Ahh, ok, didn't realize the color thing. Probably more clear if they just don't show the invalid options.

  18. Okay, Mike has posted a couple deals at Amazon in different threads and it's been a real challenge to figure out how to see what's included.

I think I figured one of them out: Buy 3 Get 1 Free.

Navigate to an eligible item like the 2019 Aladdin on DVD. There is a Savings link in the upper third of the page (it says Get 3 for the price of 2…but whatever). Click the shop items link and you come to the Buy 3 Items and Get 1 Free page. You can then navigate to movies by format from there. The 4k pickings are slim.

The 3 UHD for $49.99 is still active and I *think* titles were added. I dunno for sure.

Sorry if this isn't new news…
