I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

  1. Hey RoundUppers!

Some interesting stuff hits the shelves this week!

For me, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again (well, for my wife)…and Celebrating Mickey.

Hope you all find something you like.

    Safe shopping!

And–AS ALWAYS–thanks for the 'likes.' I don't want you to think they go unnoticed and unappreciated.

  2. Thank you, Mike!

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the only movie all summer that I saw twice in theaters and I can't wait to get the disc.

I'll probably end up with Celebrating Mickey and Sorry to Bother You at some point down the line.

  3. Thanks Mike!

The first Mamma Mia! wasn't what you'd call a good movie, but it was an exuberant and fun one. If the sequel is more of the same, then it will definitely at least merit a rental.

Sorry to Bother You will also merit a rental, since I missed it in theaters.

What is going on with "The 100" Season 5 on Blu-ray? It was supposed to come out last week with the DVD release, then it was supposed to come out a week from Tuesday, now it's listed for November 13th. is Warner Archive having manufacturing issues?

  4. Celebrating Mickey and Mamma Mia…the former this week, the latter when I get back from Europe in 2 weeks. My guess is Amazon is going to be weird about this Disney release and I'll be going out to find it in store Tuesday night.

    Thank you Mike!

  5. I'm posting this here because it does relate to a release this week:

I just got back from the Twilight Fathom Event.

The film looked better than I have ever seen it before. Before the movie they showed a bonus feature from the coming UHD release of Twilight. This bonus feature is one of the best ones I have seen in a few years. Jackson Rathbone and Catherine Hardwicke took us for a tour of Twilight filming locations 10 years after filming there. The owner of the Cullen house says that he gets hundreds of tourists a year. A group of about 8 tourists showed up while they were shooting the bonus feature.

There may be some truth to Jason's expectation.

I have two Amazon pre-orders this week: Mamma Mia 2 and Celebrating Mickey.

I just got notice that Mamma Mia 2 has shipped and will arrive tomorrow. Celebrating Mickey…not so much. I just checked my account and the item is listed as:

    Not yet shipped
Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date.

    The product page says:

    Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

I just got notice that Mamma Mia 2 has shipped and will arrive tomorrow.

Oddly enough, mine has not. Weird.

And regarding Celebrating Mickey — I'm not going to trust Amazon on any future Disney titles, period.

  8. I think I might just have to dance the dance with an Amazon customer service rep asking why I'm not getting that title on its release date…even though I ordered it several weeks in advance.

Anyone who sees Celebrating Mickey in a B&M, PLEASE report it here.

It's supposed to be at Best Buy, but the store inventory won't update until tomorrow morning sometime.

I'm gonna do by best to order from BB first thing in the morning and see what happens. Assuming Amazon doesn't ship mine miraculously overnight.

You could do that, but you probably know more about the reason for this than they do. The ongoing Amazon/Disney feud isn't something that the customer service reps are going to admit to even if they know about it, which I doubt they do. To be honest, I'm surprised Amazon was offering pre-orders for this title as long as they did, since usually they get pulled much sooner. Best case scenario they'll probably extend your Prime membership another month.

It is, and I also think it's much better than the original. Ol Parker, who wrote and directed this one, actually knows how to make a movie, and he's more ambitious and better-suited to making it cinematic than Phyllida Lloyd was on the original.

I also wanted to note that Amazon has dropped the price on the 10th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray of the original film to $6.99. That means if you're looking to purchase both, it's actually currently cheaper to buy them separately than in the 2-movie collection that is being released tomorrow (which Amazon has for $29.99.)

I'm going to the Albany Best Buy tomorrow. I will let you know if I see it.

Mike…I cancelled my Amazon order this morning since it was still stuck in No Man's Land. Per BB.com, every store in my area has "few in stock." I'll scout the store tonight when I pick mine up to see how many might be laying around on a shelf…or not.

  15. Has ANYONE received a notice from Amazon that Celebrating Mickey is on its way??

    Wayne_j

I'm going to the Albany Best Buy tomorrow. I will let you know if I see it.

Thanks, Wayne. Depending upon your report, I will be near there tomorrow afternoon after a doctor appointment.

  16. One of my Walmarts — luckily the one I was closest to today after my Flu shot had 3 copies Celebrating Mickey BD on the shelf (exactly what Brickseek said).
The nurse didn't have a sucker and I figured it was better for me than a free Ice Cream Cone — I only whimpered a little and never really cried at all and didn't bite her even a little this year.

It appears a bunch of the Albany area WM have in stock and priced $14.96 in store

  17. I'll be stopping at my local W-M tonight then, David. I'm going to be right near one! 😀

    Many thanks!

And save $3 in the process.!

By the way, I DID chat with an Amazon rep today. This is going to shock you all…but I got nowhere asking why they don't have any when other retailers around me do.

Did they at least give you something to apologize? Prime extension or anything?

  19. Nope.

Just an offer to "monitor the situation" and let me know when it becomes available. I have heard this offer many times. And they NEVER follow through on it. But, of course, their software automatically will let me know that the product is available and ships. 🙄

  20. Jason_V

Mike: the BB I went into for Celebrating Mickey had three on the shelf I could find.

    Price, Jason?

    Mike Frezon

Thanks, Wayne. I'll report back if I get to Wal-Mart in East Greenbush. I'm planning on it as of now.

Well, it SHOULD have been there. They've got a spot for it:

It looked like this particular store was doing an extensive remodeling of the store. The media section was shrunk–by quite a lot…while it looked like the electronics section is going to take over more of that space. There were TONS of TVs in the store for sale.

I'll either try another Wal-Mart or look at a Target tomorrow.

That link shows it as "In Stock" in the store I went to tonight, Howie!

I'm sure it won't be hard for me to find one sometime soon…eventually.

It's odd. That link indicates it's in-stock, but if I want to "pre-order" it tonight at walmart.com it would ship on October 30th (with free two-day shipping) and arrive November 1st. It makes the head spin.

  23. The East Greenbush store might still have their copies on a pallet somewhere, waiting to unpack until they know where to put it.

Both the Glenmont Walmart and the Crossgates Commons Walmart are supposed to have four copies in stock.

They should ask me. I found the spot where it's supposed to be shelved!

Not this item — but a couple weeks ago on the release date for the A Star is Born soundtrack, I went into my Target looking for it in the middle of the afternoon, by which time they should have had it out. It turns out that all of their copies were in the back stockroom and no one had put them out in the store, so you had to ask for it. AND it was a Target exclusive version of the CD which they paid to have (the exclusive is a foldout poster on the back of the booklet, not extra music, but still.) They paid to get an exclusive on what is essentially a new Lady Gaga album and didn't bother to put it out. But they had it. You just had to ask to get it.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were still in the storeroom. Anytime the inventory sites say it should be there I ask an employee to help me track it down or at least check their handset which has a more accurate inventory. Admittedly how helpful they are is YMMV, but almost all my stores have people who at least try to help out even if sometimes they aren't successful.

  27. Funny thing…

About Midnight last night, I got an automated note from Amazon with a "Delivery Estimate Update" on my order of Celebrating Mickey. It tells me that my new estimated delivery date is November 1 – November 2.

I'll still be looking for a local copy today…hoping to find one at the cheaper price and then cancel the Amazon order.

  28. Mike Frezon

Yeah, this is my WalMart literally every single time I go looking on release date for a 4K title. Always a spot for it, always completely empty.

Same happened to me at BestBuy a while back.

  30. Looks like about 60% of WM B&M stores now listing in stock up form 20% yesterday morning and 50% at midnight.
Yesterday my main store didn't have it though but now with 4 copies listed. Luckily I had an errand yesterday that put me nearer my 2nd store,

  31. Wayne, Adam…I don't know how interested you are in this title…but there are now three copies left at the Crossgates Wal-Mart. 😀

To be fair…I got an e-mail tonight from the very Amazon rep who told me should keep checking and let me know when the title would be available and when I might receive it.

And right after I read that e-mail…I canceled my Amazon order for the title.

  32. Malcolm R

Is there anything on this "Mickey" set that was not included on the earlier Disney Treasures sets in tins?

There's a thread over in the software forum in which the contents were discussed at length. I don't have all the Treasures, only some, but my bet is probably not, other than the fact that this is in HD and the Treasures were all DVDs — there are only 13 shorts on this disc anyway and it is not meant to be comprehensive. (Well, Get a Horse from 2013 isn't on a Treasures set, but that is on Frozen, so more people have that than any other Blu-ray ever sold anyway.)
