The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Here it is. THIS is the week.

If you can't find something to your liking in this week's RoundUp we may have to ask you to forfeit your HTF membership (j/k)! :D

Safe shopping!

(I had some issues posting up this week's WRU, but I think I've got things fixed now.)

Thank you, Mike!

A note about The Green Knight: as discussed in other threads about the movie around HTF, writer-director David Lowry has confirmed that a special edition with more bonus features, including commentary, will be coming sometime next year.

However, previous special editions from A24 have run $50 exclusively at their website. So I am going to get the regular edition this week. I love David Lowery as a filmmaker and I thought the movie was great. I would enjoy the additional bonus features, but probably not enough to pay that much of a premium for a single movie. I've never paid $50 for a single movie before ever. So my current plan is to stick with the version coming out now and be done with it. For those with deeper pockets than me, you might want to hold off.

I would be interested in Oliver! if I had a 4K player, but I don't. So I'm perfectly happy with my existing Twilight Time release of that.

The link in the table listing for "Rob Zombie’s Halloween II (Entertainment in Video)" seems to be for a 2018 release that is locked for Region B. Is there a newer release?

Yeah, that's my bad Malcolm.

It appears as if there is supposed to be an October 12th release of a Blu of RZ's Halloween II, but Amazon doesn't have a price/listing for it. They have THIS listing for the DVD release for this week.

I didn't look at the specs of the Blu listing close enough.

Target is having a "buy 2, get 1 free" sale this week. No preorders included except they screwed up by including the latest James Bond movie so I jumped on ordering that as one of my freebies.

Also, Zack Synder's Justice League 4K disc is on sale for $19.99 at Target. I haven't checked any other retailers.

The giant Columbia Classics box set is on its way for review, but likely won't arrive until after street date (Fed Ex Ground has been having issues with their Sacramento sorting facility, which all shipments coming to me have to pass through). I've had packages arrives up to one week later than they were supposed to.

I've been back to the theater after being vaccinated, but I'm far more selective and less frequent in my visits. Free Guy was one that looked fine but landed on my list to see at home instead. It has been available as a premium $20 rental for a while, but I wasn't interested in spending that much for a 48-hour window. Now that the disc is available, the price of the streaming rental has been lowered to $5.99, so I paid that to rent it the other night.

The rental was a complete waste of money, but not because I didn't like the movie. I loved it and wanted to buy it as soon as it was over, so I should have just done that in the first place. It turns out I'll be picking up that disc this week as well.

I sure wish Disney releases were priced lower than $24.99 for street week, but I'll get it anyway.

On a related note, I saw Walmart's website advertising the standard single-disc Blu-ray (not the 4K version) for $29.06 earlier tonight. I can't imagine why they should be that high if Target and Best Buy are both $24.99. I could understand that price tag for the 4K, but it surprised me for the regular release.

The website did not match the in-store price. I saw the UHD was $34.99 on the website, but in-store all the prices were the same as always. Of course, in store, around noon, they still hadn't unpacked the boxes and actually gotten the stock out on to the shelves, so I ended up getting it at Target. Same thing happened for the last movie I went there to get as well.

Amazon has lowered their price for The Green Knight to $19.96 for the Blu-ray with a further $2.97 discount applied at checkout, making it $16.99. The 4K is now $24.96 with no additional coupon.

Because they waited until today to lower the price, this is not covered by the pre-order price guarantee. So those of us who pre-ordered and got it two days ago on the release date for $21.99 are essentially screwed.

I don't expect prices to stay the same forever, but it annoys me on principle when the discounted price goes into effect so soon after the street date.
