The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Nothing for me either, and thank goodness for that!

Interesting that Sony seems to be surreptitiously rolling out a subtitle for the Ghostbusters remake, kind of like how Edge of Tomorrow basically became Live. Die. Repeat. on home video.

Thanks for your work, Mike. Criterion's Boyhood (which seems like the release the film should have had in the first place) is coming to me from Amazon for $0 out of my pocket this week, as I set aside birthday gift card money for this upgrade last month, so, while technically it is $27.99, it doesn't feel like it. I passed the Paramount disc to a friend last month and will be glad to welcome the movie back into my collection on Tuesday.

Thanks for the RoundUp!

Have a couple of review items in this week's list (still waiting for a couple from LAST week's list), and, of course, several of the Twilight Time releases are also on my schedule.

I have The Thing on HD-DVD, but it may be time to get it on a Blu-ray.

Big week for me. I'll be picking up Carrie, The Hills Have Eyes and The Thing. At some point, I'll get Boxcar Bertha and Boyhood.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! :)

I think they did that to differentiate it from a hoped for (though probably not going to happen) sequel. Copying the Marvel formula of, say, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Three for me this week:
  • Glengarry Glen Ross
  • John Carpenter's The Thing
  • On Dangerous Ground
I cancelled my pre-order of It's a Wonderful Life Platinum Edition pending a review. Seems it is the existing transfer.

I think Walmart.com still has Ghostbusters 3D/UHD combo for $23 which btw might be the only way to get the 3D version.

Stubbornly high price for Tarzan, which seems to be the norm for Warner Bros. anymore. I'll put it in my Amazon cart and save for later and wait for the price drop.

As always, thank you for the Roundup!!!!

Tarzan was entertaining in the theater, but not enough to justify the high price for it. I would recommend a rental for those interested. I enjoyed watching it but mostly forgot about it after it was over and am not sure it would stand up to replay much for me personally.

So nothing this week.

So it looks like the only way to get the 3D version of Ghostbusters is to get the 4K version, right.

It also mentions both the theatrical and extended editions. Does anyone know which versions have theatrical vs. extended, 4K or 3D Blu?

It looks like the standard BD of Ghostbusters has the theatrical and extended cuts, while the 4K/3D edition includes that same disc plus a 4K disc and a 3D disc. The 4K set mentions a digital copy on the front cover, but the standard doesn't.

I'm not equipped (yet) for 4K or 3D, but I'm half-tempted to buy the full set just to support the idea of releasing all of it together for only a few bucks more than the plain vanilla disc.

Incidentally, Mike, check the Amazon link for Ghostbusters!
