The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, has no Sunday flyer in my local newspaper.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has just a couple of new release prices in this week’s flyer (noted in the grid).  No catalog titles listed in the ad.

Hey RoundUppers!

I tweaked the banner picture of the WRU (seen above) to reflect that this week marks the 15th anniversary of my participation compiling the RoundUps! Cool, huh? :D

I found THIS LITTLE GEM--on the old' Wayback Machine--if you want to take a peek at what a RoundUp looked like back in 2004 (on our old platform)! Watch out for those Modified Aspect Ratios!!!

I want to thank you all for being so faithful each week and checking in to find out where the best deals can be found on new release movies and TV!

15 years?! Wow! Thanks for your dedication to this task for so many years, Mike.

That link to your old Round Up was a nice trip down memory lane. Superbit titles, Circuit City, etc.

Thanks for the RoundUp and for 15 years of faithful service!

One or two items of interest: 8MM and Castle Rock but there is no rush for either of them.

Best Buy has the 4k 2001: A Space Odyssey for $19.99 and if you can still find one the steelbook is also the same price.

In honor of the anniversary, I guess I decided to go "old school" this week and pre-order two DVDs (gasp!)!

I was fascinated by the release of What They Had. I don't remember hearing anything about it when it was released. But I am intrigued by the subject matter. Anyone familiar with it?? (I love Blythe Danner...and Robert Forster. And it's got Hillary Swank and Michael Shannon, too.)

And since I'm a sucker for dog related stuff (and Peg's got a new book coming out for kids in a couple weeks on dogs who work with kids to make their lives better), I decided to bite on the Mill Creek release of Dogs On the Job. I also know next-to-nothing about this release.

Both are really blind buys.

Who doesn't love Blythe Danner...and that voice?
Why stop at another 15 years of community service? Thanks for all you do here!

Also Taissa Farmiga, Josh Lucas, and Sarah Sutherland. Just an insanely talented cast.

If I might ask, though, why DVD? Universal is releasing the film on Blu-Ray as part of its MOD program (pressed discs like Warner Archive). I believe the delay on the Blu-Ray release is due to the same manufacturing issues that have plagued us on smaller titles for the last few months.

Thank you for your work Mike, both this week and for the last 15 years. Wow.

However, nothing for me this week.

I was fascinated by the release of What They Had. I don't remember hearing anything about it when it was released. But I am intrigued by the subject matter. Anyone familiar with it?? (I love Blythe Danner...and Robert Forster. And it's got Hillary Swank and Michael Shannon, too.)

I remember reading something about What They Had at some point in one of the trades (Deadline or somewhere?) but it never opened anywhere near here to my knowledge.

According to Box Office Mojo, its maximum theater count was 53 theaters and its total gross was only $260,136, so it doesn't seem to have gotten much of a release to speak of in most places.

@Mike Frezon, if you want the Blu-ray of What They Had, you can always refuse the package with the DVD from Amazon and get an automatic refund. That's what I did a couple months ago when I inadvertently ordered the 2-disc and 3-disc Mary Poppins soundtracks. Then, you can order the Blu-ray without paying to double dip.
