The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–The seemingly never-ending Amazon/Disney “feud” continues.  No end in sight.

–Best Buy, in its summer flyer this week, shows a number of new releases, but no prices.  They will, however, have an EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK RELEASES of Hunter Killer and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

–Best Buy also has “Two Blu-ray Movies for $10”.  Titles shown are:  Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Assassin’s Creed, Why Him?

–The following Disney Blu-ray releases are on sale this week at Best Buy for $19.99:  Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Toy Story 3.

–Best Buy is also advertising some “hit movies starting at $17.99.”  titles include Blu-rays of Bad Times at the El Royale and Equalizer 2.  Also shown are 4k/UHD releases of Venom, The Predator, and First Man.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE BLU-RAY STEELBOOK release of Reign of the Supermen.  It is priced at $19.99.  The Sunday flyer does not show a price for the non-Steelbook Blu.

–Target is also advertising the Blu-rays of First Man and The Hate U Give for $19.99 apiece.

–Target’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

Thank you for your work, Mike!

I have The Wife coming from Amazon this week. Glenn Close is getting the attention for it, and she should since she is fantastic in it. But I think the movie itself is one of the best movies of 2018, and no one is mentioning that. I'm really looking forward to seeing it again. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who missed it during its theatrical run.

Boy Erased really wasn't all that great. I would recommend The Miseducation of Cameron Post instead, which has a similar concept but which is superior in pretty much every respect.

Also...Willow is listed in the grid as a Lucasfilm release. Is that being handled by Disney now? If so, that's interesting, because Amazon is still selling a pre-order of it. I'm not planning to get it, but given what's been going on with them (and which continues to affect The Nutcracker and the Four Realms out this week), Willow still accepting orders at this point is interesting.

Thanks as always for the RoundUp, Mike.

A quiet week for me. I'll update In the Heat of the Night at some point, and I'll see The Wife eventually though I don't know if I'll buy a disc of it until after I've seen it.

Thanks for the link to my Suspiria review. Here's the thread for discussion. Anyone see this yet?

Is Disney the distributor of this now?

Yes. It should be on the DMC site tomorrow, but either they bought the rights in the Lucasfilm buyout (explaining why the original Fox distributed BD was pulled after a year or so) and/or completed it with the Fox.

Willow has a weird lineage -- it was started by Lucasfilm and cofinanced by MGM. MGM only had the Theatrical and TV rights while Lucas still had Home Video. The original Home Video right for VHS were sold to RCA/Columbia which then went to Columbia/Tristar (Sony) and eventually even Fox released a VHS. DVD was then moved to FOX, BD at FOx, and now BD/DVD will be released by Buena Vista.

Apparently the new Bluray still starts with the MGM and Lucasfilm logos
