These are obviously meant to be given as gifts for the holiday season. A take on greatest hits packages.
Universal released similar sets though only 4 films each, in the UK a few years ago.

Ha, yes. I suppose it'll clear some warehouse space for them, & Christmas is coming, so I'd think a lot of the sets will be bought as presents.

What disparate collections! THE EXORCIST in the same set as WILLY WONKA?

This would all be wonderful for those of us who don't already own most of these on Blu-ray. And what about the special features?

I'd prefer the studio concentrate on getting never-before released material out to us via the Archives or various licenses.

At least make them 4K releases with blu-rays a-la the Christopher Nolan set .... so people can complain about having to buy the whole set just to get one or two films they like...

One wonders if this was a Best of the 30s, 40s,50s, and 60s (with at least 1 new-to-bluray disc per set) if it might not get a better reception for blu-ray sets here?

I'm not even sure I'ld be interested in these sets even when they go to Big Lots! for $4 a set?

Strange combinations.

Wonder if this has more to do with clearing out old inventory from their warehouses, which has been collecting dust for too long.

Aside from Unforgiven and GoodFellas, anyone notice that Warner's "Best of 90's" is almost entirely New Line?

Be fair, Warner DID corner the market on the Best Pop-Iconic Movies of the 80's, just like Paramount did with the 70's and Fox did with the 60's.

While Universal keeps trying to push Back to the Future and E.T. on us, because that's all they had...

Thankfully, Warner’s has given us HTF aficionados the Warner Archive Collection; so I guess with these releases they’ve finally thrown a bone to the novices. Okay, that seems fair enough. Still, I would’ve picked up one of their 80’s sets, had it only included the U.S. release of Clint Eastwood’s “Bird”. Oh well, at least France has a copy available.

I own copies of all of these I'd like to have. BR for favorites and DVDs I have no intention of upgrading of others.

so odd....a 2-volume set of WB 80s titles (10 ea) and
they still can't fit in THE RIGHT STUFF.

It is possible to buy a box set with films that appeal to different members of the family. Not everyone lives alone. Warner Bros. also gave us this set a few years ago. In addition to people complaining that they had many of the films they also complained that not all the films were from Warner Bros. Just films that Warner Bros. then owned. All had been previously released. Not all the films' individual releases came with digital codes at the time of release. There was also 100 film DVD set without digital codes and the DVDs were flippers if I recall correctly.
