Titanic (4k UHD) 2023 (1 Viewer)

I'm considering this a rumor until there's a press release. Plausible, though, considering the Valentine's Day 2023 theatrical re-release.

Great to see Titanic getting a 4K UHD release, what about The Abyss and True Lies Mr. Cameron?

The Abyss is coming at some point - a new master was made several years ago and has played on a variety of subscription streaming and premium cable services like HBO. Cameron also supervised the tweaking of this master last spring.

It’s widely believed that a physical media release would be times to coincide with the physical media release of Avatar 2, which is also water-themed.

True Lies is currently on hulu in HD and 5.1 and the transfer looks like it's recent.

Have you seen The Abyss remastered on a streaming service, and if so, did you like what you saw in quality?

Still baffles me that a letterboxed DVD is the best we have gotten in this country for The Abyss. I think True Lies is the same.

I watched it on HBOMax about a year ago. I think it was the first thing I watched on that service after signing up. And it looked really good, albeit HD, not 4K. The slight downside was that it was the Theatrical Cut. I haven't heard anything about whether the Extended Cut has been streamed, or whether there's a 4K stream of it. I really need to check that out.

I also haven't heard anything concrete, but I wouldn't be surprised if a UHD release of Avatar 2 was accompanied by ones for Avatar, Aliens, and The Abyss (if not also True Lies).

The Dolby Cinema re-release is December 1. The Valentine's Day release is for international territories but I suppose it's possible that a wider (non-Dolby) re-release will also happen in the U.S. in February too.

Are you sure? I see news stories about a Dolby Cinema rerelease for the film's 20th anniversary on December 1, 2017, but nothing for 2022.

You're correct and I've corrected my post. That's what I get for not thinking that the OP would post a five year old trailer.

The original trailer was not good quality on youtube.

Perhaps we'll finally get anamorphic DVDs of them.

for those still holding on to D.C.S.E. DVD waiting for the “Ultimate 4K” release, to best experience the visual aspect of the movie, i suggest to set your dedicated bluray player for DVD playback, to output in 720p.

there you'll get to fed with high-def SHD to your eyes, till the next Valentine Day arrives.
