Strike while the iron is hot...

I'd guess anyone who wants to see it "early" or via streaming has already done so and the rest of us are just waiting on physical. Plus... the market for this product likely isn't getting larger so get it out before too many of us are gone.

I'm more curious as to how much we'll be gouged for the privilege of owning a copy...

I believe the cost is all your children and their future offspring in perpetuity along with forfeiting all stocks, bonds, and precious metals you might possess as well as any cute pet you might own...oh yeah, and your soul.

So, around the same cost as a ticket to an Eagles concert.

Other than that Disney does not include Atmos on their Blu-ray discs as a matter of policy. But if Apple is in charge of the release and Disney is just the distributor, they may override Disney on that.

Also this is a test to see if I get an email notice for posts to this topic as it seems to have been broken for me.

it looks gorgeous in 4K HDR on Disney+

I actually disagree here. The AI de-graining and upscaling of the 16mm footage was incredibly distracting. In addition to the typical waxy appearance, it introduced a ton of smearing and ghosting artifacts. The Beatles' fingers would randomly disappear and reappear in a lot of the wide shots of them playing. I wish Jackson would release a cut without all the digital massaging and just let the footage look like film.

it looks gorgeous in 4K HDR on Disney+, and with no 4K release, then no Atmos either.
The rooftop concert seemed to have less manipulation and much of the Apple Studios footage didn't look as processed, but I can't help but feel UHD would be absolutely wasted on this. Even if the physical releases had the degraining pulled back a bit, it would give Terminator 2 a bit of competition for most pointless use of 4K resolution.

Count me in for the Blu-ray. While I missed out on most 2021 releases, this was easily the most astonishing film I watched last year.

Hope this is legitimate news. Maybe a press release from Disney or Apple Corp will be coming to confirm.

My IMAX isn't on the list and when I check for the dates for the worldwide theatrical engagement nothing shows up near me.
