TCL adds 8K TVs to 6-series line

TCL has announced pricing and availability of the new 8K Roku TVs in its 6-series. The manufacturer added mini-LED backlighting to the line last year, but now these 2021 6-Series models will include 8K resolution and are also the first TVs with this resolution to feature THX Certified Game Mode. The 65-inch 65R648 ($2199) and 75-inch 75R648 ($2999) can be pre-ordered at Amazon and Best Buy now with actual availability in August.

“We are thrilled to offer TCL’s first 8K resolution sets this year in partnership with Roku. Not only will we be ready for the next stage of 8K content as new game consoles and streaming services roll out, but more importantly, we’re making 8K more accessible to all. As consumers adopt 65″, 75″ and even larger screens for their homes, they will naturally choose the greater screen resolution of 8K for those displays and with the advantage of being a vertically integrated company, we can continue bringing premium products like the 6-Series to market at a compelling value,” said Chris Larson, Senior Vice President, TCL.

TCL’s mini-LED backlight technology can power up to 240 contrast control zones for improved depth and dimension, while a proprietary Contrast Control Zone tech will achieve “striking” contrast. The displays sport a brushed metal design and there is Quantum Dot technology and an HDR Pro Pack with Dolby Vision onboard. TCL’s AiPQ Engine processor includes picture quality algorithm features as follow: Smart HDR for color, Smart 8K Upscaling for sharpness and clarity, and Smart Contrast for image depth. There is also Dolby Atmos audio processing on both models.

The THX Certified Game Mode enables “no-compromise” gaming sessions combined with TCL’s ultra-low-latency gaming display. Variable refresh rate and an available Auto Game Mode are featured for a “smoother and optimized” gaming experience. For more information on the new 8K TVs, go to TCL.
