StormAudio unveils ISP Core 16 home theater processor

In a recent industry presentation, French high-end brand StormAudio unveiled the ISP Core 16 multi-channel processor ($12,000, available Q4 2021), as well as an AoIP AES67 (audio over IP) option for the ISP MK2 processor range. Furthermore, a completely redesigned cross-platform smartphone app was announced at the event, along with other feature updates available later this year and into next.

The new ISP Core 16 preamp/processor is based on the company’s ISP MK2 platform. The new France-manufactured 3U-chassis unit is more compact than the former processors, according to SA, and the product supports up to 16 channels with state-of-the-art audio codecs and video processing (Auro-3D, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision). Room optimization is care of Dirac Live. As well as remote control apps (iOS and Android), an IR remote is included and integration with home automation platforms supported.

The AoIP module option for the ISP MK1 and MK2 platform means the processors will meet “increasing demands” for the technology, especially for multi-theater and multi-zone residential settings (and is fully compatible with DCI and Dolby ecosystems). The module supports up to 32ch inputs and 32ch outputs, and is available now.

The company has also designed an iOS- and Android-compatible StormRemote Mobile app for control of the processors, giving consumers easy access to key settings at any time. SA also says that more “game-changing” features will arrive on its processors via software and firmware upgrades later this year (including a proprietary StormXT engine for expanding multi-channel soundfields to use formerly “silent” speakers).
