Samsung today announced the expansion of its lifestyle product line with The Terrace, its first outdoor 4K QLED TV and accompanying soundbar. The Terrace is a Samsung smart TV designed to bring indoor entertainment outside and releases in the US and Canada today, followed by other territories later in the year. The new TV is available in 55-, 65- and 75-inch models, includes Samsung’s QLED 4K tech and smart features, and is ready for outdoor use with an IP55 rating for water and dust resistance. The TV provides 2,000 nits of brightness for daylight viewing, a high motion rate of MR240 for sports, as well as an anti-reflective coating.
“In recent months, as we’ve spent more time at home, we’ve seen how the TV has played an even more essential role in our everyday lives. It’s a center for entertainment, a source for news, a hub for exercise, and it helps us stay connected at work,” said James Fishler, Senior Vice President of the Home Entertainment Division at Samsung Electronics America.
The Terrace Soundbar promises to deliver “dynamic” sound and includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to pair with the TV. It can be mounted to a wall, or directly to the Terrace TV. The soundbar also has an IP55 rating and features distortion cancelling technology to improve bass performance from the built-in woofers.
In addition to The Terrace, the rest of the 2020 Samsung Lifestyle TV line includes The Frame, a display that doubles up as an art display, The Sero, a TV that rotates to accommodate a vertical image like a smartphone, and The Serif with a 360-degree design on accompanying floorstand.
