Nakamichi introduces two new Dolby Atmos soundbars

Nakamichi is expanding its 2022 soundbar lineup with the Shockwafe Pro 7.1 eARC ($900) and Shockwafe Elite 7.2 eARC ($1,300). The 7.1 model is available from today from major online sales platforms, and the 7.2 will be available from late September . Both are based on the same ‘DNA’ of the flagship 9.2 channel model. As well as Nakamichi’s  spatial surround elevation (SSE) MAX tech, the new bars come with upgraded speaker drivers and amp hardware, eARC connectivity, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Vision and Qualcomm aptX HD.

The company says the preceding Shockwafe soundbars are rated #1 on Amazon and Best Buy websites. Nakamichi consulted owners of earlier soundbars to guide the development of the new lineup. The Pro 7.1 eARC uses a 10-inch subwoofer, with a peak power output of up to 300W and bass extending down to 30Hz. Upgraded twin-cone drivers and silk dome tweeters combine with 850W of total power to deliver up to 108dB SPL.The pricier Shockwafe 7.2 eARC will come with dual 8-inch subwoofers achieving 450W of output and response down to 25Hz. It comes with extended range twin-cone drivers and silk dome tweeters, up to 1000W of power and 110dB SPL.

The onboard SSE MAX feature on both soundbars promises to fuse “precision-tuned, high-performance” hardware with Nakamichi’s SSE surround processing software for immersive 360° experiences. HDMI connectivity includes eARC, a total of three inputs and 4K HDR and Dolby Vision pass-through. Both sets support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and are the first to use Qualcomm AptX HD for 24-bit streaming from devices via Bluetooth 5.0.
