Monoprice’s Monolith brand has today announced the availability of two new THX Certified Ultra subwoofers, the M-210 dual 10-inch and M-212 dual 12-inch powered models, priced at $1,299 and $1,799, respectively. Both can be ordered direct from Monoprice. The THX Ultra category means each sub is qualified to produce undistorted reference level audio in rooms of up to 3,000 cubic feet, and have undergone rigorous testing by THX engineers to earn the status.

“No two rooms are the same, so when it comes to maximizing bass output Monolith has solutions to fit everyone’s needs,” said Hobie Sechrest, Monolith Business Unit Manager, Monoprice. “With the same footprint as our single woofer system, these dual sub towers pack double the woofers, double the cone surface area, and double the power, making them ideal for customers who want two subwoofers but don’t have the floor space for them.”

The subs have been redesigned “from the ground up” and promise to deliver low distortion, accurate bass, while handling “tons of power.” The hybrid cones combine stiffness of long-fiber pulp with the lightweight properties of fiberglass to deliver more than 90mm of peak-to-peak excursion, according to Monoprice. The onboard Class-D amps are capable of putting out 1,000 watts (RMS) and 1,800 watts (peak), care of TI DSP tech which itself supports flat response down to 16Hz without distortion or artifacts.

The tower profile subs come in a simulated black ash cabinet made of high-density fiberboard with internal reinforcement and bracing to prevent vibration. A rectangular port at the base maximizes SPL at low frequencies, and an included foam plug can be used to achieve a sealed mode. The carbon-colored fabric cover will maximize airflow around the woofers and ports. Monoprice offers a 5-year replacement warranty and a 30-day “no-questions-asked” return policy.
