McIntosh MX100 pre gets ‘Connects with Control4’ certification

McIntosh says it has implemented a Simple Device Discovery Protocol’ (SDDP) onto the MX100 A/V Processor ($6,995) resulting in a Connects with Control4 certification. The processor can therefore now be discoverable by the Control4 platform, reducing installation complexity, configuration time and costs in Control4 projects. Control4 OS 3 enables all devices in a media room, home cinema, or ‘whole home’ ecosystem to be controlled from touchscreens, remotes, keypads and the Control4 app.

“We’re delighted to add Connects with Control4 Certification to the already custom install friendly MX100,” said McIntosh President and CEO Charlie Randall. “Many of our other A/V Processors have received Control4 Certification and dealers, installers, and customers have been happy with how easy they can integrate into Control4 automation systems. We’re excited to bring this user experience enhancement to the MX100.”

The 11.2 channel processor is designed for home cinemas needing digital-only inputs and is suited for installation in a discrete A/V equipment rack with 2U physical dimensions and removable rack-mounting brackets. As well as 4 x HDMI inputs and 1 x HDMI output, several key home cinema technologies are supported by the MX100, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, 4:4:4 color spacing, Rec. 2020, eARC and 3D video pass-through.

To work with the Control4 system, the MX100 needs to be using firmware version 2.134 or higher, which must be installed by a dealer. An installer then needs to add the MX100 to a Control4 system and the controller will recognise it. The correct driver will automatically download from Control4 and the MX100 will be installed in the system. For more information, visit McIntosh.
