LG has announced the latest addition to its XBOOM Go portable Bluetooth speaker lineup with the debut of the LG XBOOM Go PL Series. The new lineup includes Meridian Audio technology on all three models, namely the PL7 ($179 and picture above), PL5 ($129) and PL2 ($59), all of which are now available at LG.com and through LG-authorized dealers nationwide.

The LG XBOOM Go PL teams up with Meridian to deliver “enhanced” bass and vocals, and the new design, compact size and claimed 24-hour battery life (PL7) contribute to the portability of the line. On-board low-frequency signals are driven by a Dual Action Bass design (PL7 and PL5) which uses passive radiators, while the PL7 employs dual tweeters for a wide sound stage with better detail across higher frequencies.

Party-optimized features on the line include Dual Play (PL7, PL5 and PL2) to allow two LG speakers to be connected together, and an IPX5 rating for water resistance and outdoor durability. Multi-color lighting on the PL7 and PL5 deploy a three-step process to detect tempo based on soundwaves, while producing pulses of LED lighting in sync with the speed and beat of the song. The new XBOOM lineup provides hands-free functionality, voice activation, multi-phone pairing, and control from mobile devices. When downloading the Android or iOS XBOOM Bluetooth app, users can click to manage the audio connection, lighting effects, playlists and equalizer.
