LG CineBeam projectors first to get Disney+ app

LG has announced that the Disney+ app is arriving on on the CineBeam HU85LA and HU70LA projectors enabling subscription directly form the onboard webOS platform. LG is the first display manufacturer to offer the app on home cinema projectors. Disney+ includes movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.

The app icon appears on the LG Home Launcher on the projectors and other TVs made by the Korean company. As well as movie content, the Disney+ archive offers choice titles such as The Mandalorian, Hamilton, High School Musical: The Musical – The Series, The One and Only Ivan and The Simpsons.

“Enjoying life at home has taken on a much greater role in peoples’ lives these days,” said Peggy Ang, LG USA’s vice president of marketing. “The arrival of the Disney+ app on our LG CineBeam 4K projectors provides consumers with a unique opportunity to bring the excitement of movie-going into their own home featuring the phenomenal content of Disney+ on stunning, ultra-large screens. This takes family movie night to whole new level.”

The HU70LA is a 4K UHD ‘wheel-less’ DLP/LED projector with a maximum diagonal screen size of up to 140 inches, brightness of 1500 ANSI lumens, and capable of delivering “impeccable color accuracy”. The HU85LA is LG’s first 4K UST model with 2,700 ANSI lumens and a diagonal image size of up to 120 inches. Placement from the wall is as little as 7.2 inches. Both projectors are HDR10 compatible and support smart home platforms from Crestron, Control4 and Savant.
