LG announces new GX 3.1-channel sound bar

LG has announced its newest sound bar designed to go hand-in-hand with LG GX Gallery OLED TVs, while also being capable of delivering an “exceptional” home entertainment experience. The sound bar is available in the US from this month.

The LG GX sound bar can be mounted either flush on the wall directly under a TV, or supported using the included steel stand. Measuring 6 (H) x 57 (W) x 1-1/4 (D), the new product is claimed to be identical in width and finish to the 65-inch LG GX Gallery series OLED TV and fits in with LG’s core philosophy of “adding spatial value.”

Both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are built-in, and the speaker supports Dolby Vision and 4K pass-through. An included subwoofer connects wirelessly to the sound bar and there is an option to add LG’s wireless rear SPK8 speaker kit, which is sold separately. Bluetooth and eARC add to connectivity options, with the latter providing Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio hi-res capability. The LG GX sound bar is also Hi-Res Audio certified with playback at 24bit/96kHz. A built-in LG AI Sound Pro feature also analyzes and applies the best sound settings regardless of the content.

The sound bar will roll out in the U.S. starting the week of July 20 at a suggested price of $999. LG suggests checking local retailers for price and exact dates of availability. You can also find out more from LG here.
