4 Stars

I’ve been enjoying and testing our store demo 2020 CX series 4K HDR OLED TVs for a few days.

For 2020 LG added several interesting new user menu items to control how you want to set-up and use your OLED TV. Some are for convenience and others can enhance picture quality and performance when configured properly.

Here’s a few pics:

Thank you Sam and sorry for the delayed reply to your email. The latest update from LG for the 48" CX series is end of June. Although LG has not officially announced the selling prices I believe the retail will be $1,999 for the 48" and 55" CX.

LMAO same price for 48" and 55". Brilliant.

And at $2k for the 48" I'll talk to you around Black Friday. That's ridiculous.

Hello Rob

many have held onto their Kuros because for bd and UHD we can’t stomach the loss of motion resolution

how are your feelings on BFI ? Is there any benefit for those who just watch Blu rays and UHD?

u lucky bugger

Thank you Sam and I'm very sorry for my incorrect price on the 48" CX.

I'll just post a few of the most interesting new user menu items. First is one of my favorites, the highly anticipated "selectable Black Frame Insertion, aka, BFI, and LG adeptly calls it "OLED Motion Pro".

Love the Low setting as I do not perceive any dimming, but it does improve motion resolution and does not introduce the dreaded SOE.

Yikes. Well I’ll never be able to afford an OLED.
Do we have a topic on whatever the next best after OLED is?

robert, might be too early to tell but do you think the CX is all around better? can’t decide to wait for 65 inch CX or just do the C9 now.

thanks!

@TonyD, An LCD TV with good Full Array Local Dimming would be the next best choice and cost less. What size TV are you considering?

@nutop, thanks for joining HTF! Yes, LG's CX has several moderately better image quality attributes vx. the C9. At this time my only comparison and testing has been visual as I am working at home and have one of our new 2020 CX TVs next to the C9 and I'm comparing the same content on both LG OLED TVs.

Later today we'll be taking the CX to our professional calibrators home for him to compare the new CX to his A9G and to put test pattern and professional video meters and a 10bit pattern generator to get the scientific answers on the differences.

Currently a 7+ year old 80” Vizio so I’m hoping to have enough saved up later this year to get a tv in that size range but the way things are now we may need whatever we’ve been able to put aside for a tv towards other more important needs.

I really don’t won’t to go much smaller then 75”.
We’ll start doing the research on fald tv’s.
My price range will be $2k-$2.5k hoping to stay closer to $2k

I wish for an explanation of all those LG settings. I've got the 2019 49" LCD and it has pretty much all that stuff, including the AI sound and video. It also has a dozen privacy settings that I've got set to "stop harvesting and selling my private info" so none of the voice or other stuff works.

Having that more explained so I could figure out more optimal picture settings would be good. And having the privacy stuff clarified to know if I'm making the right sacrifices for me in terms of functionality vs LG hoovering my data.
