  1. Thanks for posting this Ron. ClassicFlix is touting a big sale on their site right now and have these three titles bundled for $49.98!!! I almost pulled the trigger, but won't with this release coming out in about 6-7 weeks. Not only save a few bucks, but some shelf space as well.

Please be aware the Alton Collection does not come with any bonus features or booklets, they are strictly the films only.

That needs repeating to those that already expressed their dismay about purchasing the individual releases.

    David:

When can we expect 5 Steps to Danger? Eager for the CF blu ray of this.

    ClassicFlix

We'll keep it in mind Keith.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

Would also like 5 Steps, and Down Three Dark Streets.

According to Amazon they are all squeezed on one disc! Does that mean that they were additionally compressed?

Squeezed? They are all short films and if there are no extras a BD 50 can handle all three without any problems. Two of them are seventy-nine minutes and one is ninety-two.

I'd say that's squeezed. Using the byte count for the film portions alone from the DVD Beaver reviews of these films = 53.56107 gigs.

  6. Um, I don't know from bytes, but having used the best of the authoring houses in LA running times of under three hours fit just fine on a BD-50. So, I'm not sure what this is about. Even maxed out bits or bytes or gigs would be fine on a BD-50. Whole three hour movies PLUS extras are fine on a BD-50.

    Amazon says:

    • Run Time: 250 minutes

    250 minutes is 4.17 hours.

After spending $70 on the individual titles…. sigh….

me also….and I think these releases are so good I might go crazy and buy the 3 disc set as well …..that's how much I like these films . Best releases by any label during the past 12 months by a long way.

Thanks so much for your enthusiasm regarding these iconic noir films Commander!

One bit of clarification on this release for all:

    • All three films will be on 1 BD-50
    • As they are relatively shorter films, bit rate will be the same as on the special editions so PQ will be exactly the same
    • No bonus features or booklets are included as those were only on the special editions
    • Option English subtitles will be available

Well, it's now been stated by the label that nothing is "squeezed" – so…

Just remembered to order the Alton bundle at $49.98 in the nick of time. Sale ends tonight. Looking forward to seeing these after all the rave reviews on HTF and elsewhere.

I wish I had checked this thread yesterday.
