Focal unveils Celestee luxury headphones

French audio brand Focal has announced the February availability of ‘Celestee’, its latest high-end headphones, priced at $990. As well as delivering what the company calls “uncompromising” audio quality from its 1 5/8-inch full-range speaker drivers, emphasis has been paid to the cans’ modern design, and new navy blue and copper color scheme.

“Navy is the new Black. Dark blue is a versatile and timeless color that has been increasing in popularity. By choosing Navy Blue, we are adding a sophisticated, sumptuous feel to the headphones. The combination of this blue with copper and bronze accents is a trend influenced by interior and accessory design, and has become popular in watchmaking and consumer electronics sectors. These shades offer a very interesting and elegant alternative to more traditional chrome and silver parts,” says Doris Bölck, designer & product colorist.

Focal says it has taken inspiration from the former development of the Elegia headphones and introduced acoustic treatment inside the new product’s earcups. The resulting sound promises to be “precise” and “balanced”, and producing “beautiful depth” in bass response.

A five-stage manufacturing process ensures the incorporation of top-notch materials and attention to detail, and the company says the new product follows in the tradition of the former Focal-made Stellia headphones. A thermoformed woven carrying case matches the headphone colors, and a geometrical aluminum yoke enables optimal head molding and grip. For extended listening periods, the Celestee headphones include a semi-aniline leather and microfiber headband, as well as leather earpads, all designed for better comfort and sound isolation.
