Focal launches 1000 Series installation speakers

Focal has introduced a new France-made 1000 Series speaker line, comprising in-wall, in-ceiling and subwoofer models, all primed for immersive home cinema applications with multiple configuration options. According to the company, it is responding to a rising trend of customers seeking commercial-type AV products in the climate of movies-to-home releases. The products are the result of three years of R&D, form part of the CEDIA designer ecosystem and two of the speakers bear the company’s exclusive ‘Utopia’ name.

The Utopia models are represented by the 1000 IWLCR and 1000 IWSUB, both designed to deliver the “ultimate quality” and Focal’s signature sound. The in-wall models are protected by front grilles and the IWLCR ($7,499 each) is a 3-way closed back speaker with Beryllium tweeters and ‘W’ cones, which can be bi-amplified. The IWSUB is a passive subwoofer equipped with three 6.5’ (16.5cm) ‘W’ cones and is priced at $2,799.

The IW6 ($1,799 each) and IWLCR6 ($2,699 each) in-walls are two- and three-way closed back designs with ‘W’ cones and direction adjustable Beryllium tweeters. The 1000 ICW6 ($1,099), 1000 ICLCR5 ($2,199, see main picture) and 1000 ICA6 ($1,099) represent three in-ceiling models, which are natural heirs to the company’s 300 Series, and also include Beryllium tweeters and ‘W’ cones. The in-ceilings carry a patented Easy Quick Install system for a “quick, no-tool installation”. With a similar design and the same dimensions as the 300 Series products, Focal says it is “easy” to upgrade existing systems.

Finally, the 1000 ICA6 loudspeaker ($1,099) features a 6.5′ (16.5cm) speaker driver angled at 35° which is considered ideal for Dolby Atmos specifications, but can also be integrated into the corner of ceilings as a discreet audio solution.
